what do you think of Xenosaga?

i just started playing Xenosaga because...well that's all i have to play for now. and it is BORRRRRRRRRING. i hope it gets better, but for now...damn...

is anyone really into this game? or have any thoughts? no spoilers since i just started!

i haven't played it, but i loved xenogears. and from what all the bad stuff people say about xenogears, such as being a movie with some gameplay, i seriously dont mind movie heavy games. Most of the stuff they complain about are things i dont mind in other games, so i think i'll probably end up liking xenosaga. We'll see when i get my ps2 next month...

I didnt play the game but I saw all the FMVs and I thought it was nice. Its not as great as Xenogears, but its worth playing IMO. There are many links between it and Xenogears, you ll find out soon

Xenosaga is VERY different from Xenogears, the battles are boring, and you just wish some parts of the game didn't exist. Sut it still has a very deep story, which made me play it, cause I want to know the whole story related to Xenogears, what happens before and after. Just an average game in the end, Episode II looks to be a bit more action loaded, which Episode I lacked.

xenosaga is kinda like an unofficial prequel. The xenogears team wanted to make a prequel to xenogears, but square wouldn't let them due to sales being not-so-fantastic. The team who did xenogears then quit to make their own company and started working on xenosaga. That's why the mechs aren't called gears, and the name isn't xenogears, everything relating to xenogears is trademarked by square so they have to use different names. I'm glad they managed to continue on the series,even if it isn't official.

well it is a lot of CG; just like MGS2. you play for a few minutes and there's 10 times that in CG. if you watch all the intro videos, you can FINALLY play after 45 mins of introduction. phew.

valkyrie profile had a good 45 mins to an hour of introduction before actual real gameplay, and that's a great game. I love sequence heavy games.

I loved Xenogears and I liked Xenosaga quite a bit. The problem with XS is that the plot is left much too open at the end leaving you wanting more. Knowing it is part 1 of 6 makes it harder to keep track of things whereas XG was mostly self-contained and provided just enough questions near the end to keep you curious.

Its odd how everyone found the beginning of XS to be boring as I thought that was the most interesting part! To put it blunty, the gameplay is repetitive a lot of the time, the enemies are uninspired, and there is very little replay value involved because of the fact that the story is so linear and there is no world map. In many ways it reminds me of aside scrolling fighter game where you wade through endless waves of jobbers until you reach the boss.

The battle mechanics I find are unique in their own way but it feels like a certain something is missing that would make it stand out. Perhaps a refined form of position/movement or the addition of another character. It would be good if the AGWS untis were worth a damn too.

Nevertheless I enjoyed the game immensly and I welcomed the extensive CG. Sure beats reading 30 mins worth of text. The story definetly has potential and I'm eager to see where it goes. Hopefully this time they'll have worked out the problems they had with XS1.

seems different for FFX-2 tho..the battles seem fun even after fighting over 1000 battles?
