Call of Duty - StrideReview
well... ive been thinking of either making a website to make game reviews, or to just post em up here... since i dont feel like making a website heres the first of what'll probably be a few okay, the name of the game is call of duty its a first person shooter themed around ww2 where you play through the eyes of an american, a british, and a russian soldier as far as gameplay goes it was pretty fun for the most part, but it felt too unrealistic in the sense that you had to practically win the war for everyone yourself. Nevertheless it was still fun to play. The weapons were pretty good though the physics of the weapons werent nearly as realistic as in americasarmy operations, then again few things are as accurate ![]() Gameplay 8.5/10 graphics, pretty good compared to other ww2 type games, but still not that up to par with some other games GFX 7.5/10 Music surprisingly, the music in the game was rather good, it earns extra points since i usually dont expect it from fps games but it wasnt really excellent... Music 8/10 Replay Factor not that great really, once you play it, you know what happens, and there isnt any team deathmatch type play in there except in a few situations, but to get to them you have to play the hero role... Replayability 6.5/10 overall i would give it an 8/10, however, battlefield1942 was still the far better game in my opinion

Re: Call of Duty - StrideReview
What i mainly liked about CoD is how you mainly went on the battles not often covered in wwii games. For example, you had to drop down behind enemy lines and help invade a town while battles across normandy were occuring, skipping out the usual omaha beach mission. And the russian campaign was just remarkable. My only beef with the game was that it was just too short. With it being a 10 hour game, you'd want it to be really good at multiplayer. But the fact of the matter is its multiplayer is nothing mohaa's (and its expansions) isn't. Maybe if they release some exceptional expansions, it'll be worth it. But for a quick single player experience, wait until the game is 35 bucks and stick to mohaa mp until then.

Re: Call of Duty - StrideReview
I like that there was a Russian side to the battle, something very often forgotten about in WW2. Some great sniping fun in Stalingrad, and the defending of that one buidling was a blast. The sound in this game is beyond any I have played in a long time. If you have a suround setup, get this game just for the sound alone, you will not be disapointed. I found myself ducking lead all the time from all over the place from the killer sound. Very well done for sure.

Re: Call of Duty - StrideReview
i dunno, ive heard better sound, eg americasarmy has superior sound quality, and it sounds more realistic, though it has no music ![]() i'd still stick to battlefield 1942 for online, and single player fun though... i loved almost everything about that game (and it lets you play as russians too btw )

Re: Call of Duty - StrideReview
err? how can you compare bf1942 with CoD ? bf is a multiplayer game with a VERY simple single player mode, CoD is a *KILLER* single player game with an average multiplayer. the scope and overall design of both games don't share much similarity too :P , just the WWII theme. and america's army is modern warfare no? |

Re: Call of Duty - StrideReview
i'd even take bf's single player mode over CoD personally i guess youre one of those people who loves to play the big invincible hero, but i prefer war games where your team actually does something for the war effort tootheyre both still fps games based of ww2 though, and of the two i'd definately rather play battlefield as for americasarmy, im just using it as an example of a very realistic fps game

Re: Call of Duty - StrideReview
Yes, America's Army is modern warfare. It was originally designed to train new US Army recruits and give them a "taste" of what the Army was like. It was released on the "web" by the army in the hopes of encouraging more people to enlist. That is also why it is so realistic. The US Army wanted it as real as possible when it was used for training. sincerely, sx/amiga |

Re: Call of Duty - StrideReview
yes, all that is pretty much true, and they also give out free AAO cds at army recruitment centres so that people can see what its like anyways, only reason why i mention it is cause every game should aspire to it though it does have some pretty high requirements

Re: Call of Duty - StrideReview
nopz I don't like being the hero and this was one of the flaws of CoD but it is just too damn fun and it has cohesion and a sense of progression, BF's single player lacks all this that's why I don't like comparing them, to me they're games of different categories .and the reason I didn't like BF's single player was that the enemy AND friendly AI was so dumb that I just had to get the flags and wait victory, ocasionally killing someone, or getting ran over by a jeep. that's multiplayer with 6 years old kids :| below a screenshot of what I didn't like about CoD, and yeah I did that all by myself the other is an interesting death , sorry it's a bit dark.

>and it has cohesion and a sense of progression, BF's single player lacks all this that's why I don't like comparing them actually, bf has a sense of progression if you read the briefings, its jut more open so it feels different
