Talking Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

7:02 am here and I'm starting this thread just to say how happy I am for beating FF7 PC =D A great game that made me play for 40 hours and still want more Well, being the FF fanboy I am it's not anything new but.. damn... I loved this game!!!

They could have done a better ending tough (FF6's was perfect!) but it's ok... the game was good anyway

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

Actually the open ending was a great thing... it leaves you with lots of questions and doubts, definitely much better than those "happy" endings... it's just complex and a nice change over average endings... a pity that Advent Childrens could ruin all of that...

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

40 hours?? You must've rushed through it and never revisited a place..... A pity, if you have, because it has a lot of things to offer.

The ending was great, I totally agree on that with Kaiser.

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

no, 40 hours can easily get you through the game with all the sidequests. the only thing that you might end up spending more time on is getting ready to fight emerald and ruby weapon.

i agree about the ending, one of the best ones.

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

FF7's open ending is great - too bad there're few open endings in RPGs
(and as Kaiser Sigma likes to say, FF: AC will probably ruin this one)

And speaking of time, it took me 45 hours to finish FF7, and I did most of the sidequests (except getting a gold chocobo - it was too boring).

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

Well I reached the 100 hours, playing things real thoroughly, looking everywere, leveling every single materia up (I owned almost 2 KOTR), and getting me a 4xCUT for everyone
And still haven't beaten those weapons......

I never had the patience to level up all those materia - it's too boring for me.
But I've defeated the weapons - it's more a matter of strategy, rather than strength.

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

well, yeah, if you have enough patience, you could spend 100 hours on it. i did, getting all that materia up, but i'd never do that again.

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

What ? The first time I played the game it took me 105 hours to finish it (taking the time to talk to every single being on the world and doing some subquests)... the second time I was around 160-170 hours

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

Open ending? Lots of questions??? It didn't leave me any question at all and I thought it was pretty straightforward...

Yes, I kinda rushed through this game, didn't kill any Weapon (except for the one who is attacking Midgar) and didn't even get the famous KotR materia... :P

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

The first time I finished FF7, it was in 45 hours, I only missed the last summon materia, and a few of my materias were at max level 2nd time took me approx. the same time, but with pretty much everything obtained, then, took me hours to level up those materias, so, for people who plaid 100 hours, half of that is for leveling materias

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

Yeah, I've noticed that I'd spent 36 hours and was still on the 2nd disc while I had finished FFIX in about 39 hours.

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

I've probably been through FF7 more times than all of you combined, and I've never, and will never get tired of it, hehe. To get everything, it's never taken me more than 50 hours. My current FF7 game (I had to play through the PSX one because I was in Wyoming on a job June/October with no PC), and I'm gonna go through it again on my PC. MAN that's a great game! And the trick to leveling up your materia is knowing where to fight. Getting a few thousand AP per battle is easy. Not to mention multiplying that by 3 with some weapons equiped.
And... not sure if any of you know this, but the underwater weapon can be slowed, hehe. All you need for underwater weapon is Phoenix at maybe level 3 or 4, final attack materia, ultima (preferably maxed level) and quad magic. It *does* help to have KOTR, but it's not necessary, and it really makes weapon angry enough to use revenge stomp on ya, hehe.

I once leveled my materias for 170 hours (thats right! 170 hours JUST for leveling up the materias!). I ended up with 8 KoTR!

yeah, imagine how hard it'd be to finish it in 20 (25?) hours to get excalibur 2

with all these hours in the hundreds, we were all very easily amused, patient, and determined.

Nah, I tell you, talk with everyone to get the different lines of dialogue (yeah... sometimes they change after some events) and you will most likely spend such big amounts of time on the game... now the question for those who finished below 50 hours is... frameskip at which level ? 150 ?

Re: Just finished "Final Fantasy VII"

frameskip makes the time go faster too.

as for talking to people, thats why i hate towns in rpgs now. i can't go through a town without talking to everyone, and i end up getting very bored with it... i have to force myself to leave those damn villagers alone.
