Re: Most important of a rpg game

I think Story, Gmaeplay, Battle System, Originality and graphics play a little part too for me.

I would say something that has a good story and is original and when you play you leave feeling changed, Thats when yuo know you are playing a great RPG.

Re: Most important of a rpg game

What's an RPG without a good story??
Graphics are nice, but FF4 and FF5 are incredibly good games also. Sound ads a lot to the atmosphere and a bit to story I guess.
A crappy battle system ruins the whole RPG for me, so that is also very important.

Conclusion: A good RPG is a well balanced mix between all of these factors.

Re: Most important of a rpg game

Graphics is just an extra bonus. I mean If a game has good gameplay and story than of course I would buy it. But I am more attracted to nice graphic games with those too. AKA: Final Fantasy.

But beleive me, just ebcause a game looks fancy doesn't mean it plays well.

Story, but also characters, and music... you gotta have good characters that you can feel for and you gotta have good music to set the mood right for each point of the game

Ah yes I forgot about the music. Yup. Theres nothing like playing an RPG with a great musical score.

I say story. I'd be happy with FF6(3) graphics if the storyline was great.

Re: Most important of a rpg game

Everything is important equally, A body isnt complete unless all its parts are there, and so it the RPG. Graphics, Storyline, Music Score, Gameplay, Fun factor all share the same importance IMO

Re: Most important of a rpg game

Story is the most important thing IMO - you can't have a RPG without a proper story. But as other have said, everything else is important to the whole, although I don't care much for the music.

oh samor... how did you get so far off the path?

they're all important, however, with good gameplay and good story, the graphics and music can suffer. but the graphics can't go too low...

Re: Most important of a rpg game

The core gameplay of RPGs bore me, and if I like the RPG it is because of the story and the music. Graphics come in handy tooo.

You may be right, but in my case, I don't pay much atention to the music. In fact, I'm often listening to some heavy metal while playing
Of course I'm only speaking for myself

Re: Most important of a rpg game

of course the story is the most important thing. graphics is not such a big deal, I like the Breath of fire 3 kind of graphics way better than the new ps2 rpg graphics

I thought I was the only one who did that.

Bust out some Ramstein When the Boss gets tough! (Any of you ever hear of this group?)

Yes story is a big aspect, but I think the whole thing has to work to make a good game.

Then we're two
And Rammstein is really great for it - put in Feuer Frei, Ich Will or Alter Mann and I'll kick anyone's a$$
