Final Fantasy X-2 (FGPT)

Note: might contain VERY LIGHT SPOILERS without warning.

Yeah yeah, I bought an RPG; so what?

Spoiler:
The only reason I bought it was to learn why in the world was Tidus swimming underwater when everything was ok and done for?

And Naturally I wanted to haste through it. FFX is so far the only RPG that I liked (it also the second RPG which I played to the end, others bore me off much quickly. first one that I ended was CT and is the only RPG that I have ended more than once.)

Usually RPGs bore me but I found FFX to be different. It started with a bang and it was the most beautifull thing I had seen on the PS2. Due to the certain scene at its end, I was very uneasy and I wanted a sequel to understand it. I got it. So:

Hands On:

SHOCKED was I when I saw the starting!
Actually I was expecting blitzball to start things again but it was something different, something that interests me least, a POP CONCERT featuring your favourite HIGH SUMMONER! or at least I thought it was her there. I was actually pleased after the starting had gone by and real indentities were revealed as it gave a slightly different outlook to the game.

The graphics: When I played FFX I thought it had the best graphics ever. FFX-2 tunes it up nicely with full shadows, better textures and the like. The character models look just as good and animation has improved dramatically but if you remember, FFX had two different in-game character models. One of them was Very detailed and looked excellent (the one used in the first cut scenes of the game, near the Zanarkand Ruins) and other one was just average (when you get the control for the first time and sign autographs) I didn't notice that in the earlier hours of the game.

This time round I think I haven't seen the high detail in-game model yet. But I have seen only 9% of the game. Still I think the graphics are great.

Music: One of the strongest aspects of FFX. It featured and excellent array of Musics and songs right off the bat. From "To Zanarkand" (my favourite piece, currently the ringtone for my cell phone as well) to Tidus's theme to the many variations of the famous "Suteki Da Ne", FFX music department was solid. And to be honest, I haven't heard any of the same "movers" in FFX-2. In fact, the is a general sense of humour and enjoyment here. Man they really look happy after getting rid of Sin.

The Story: Well, this game doesn't appear to be heavily story based but of course I haven't played much of it yet. In other words, the storytelling is nowhere as strong as FFXs which got off a bang! FFX-2 features a lighter story uptill now which I think will change as I progress.

The gameplay: I never like turn based RPGs mainly due to the type of gameplay. This will remain the case here as well. Even thought the battles are faster and it gives you a sense of realtime fighting, it is still turn based, turn depending on high quickly a meter fills up.

But I'll leave the gameplay mechanics alone to be described by RPG veterans.

So now, how many guys here are actually playing this game?
And in case you're wondering, I have just reached Zanarkand to get my third sphere. I got one from Gagazet and another from Besaid. But I think following only hot spots won't get me anywhere as the Zanakand boss kicked my ass twice.

I'll describe the characters and what I think of them by tomorrow....

Re: Final Fantasy X-2 (FGPT)

How do you like the battle system where you have to make a decision really fast?

Re: Final Fantasy X-2 (FGPT)

Razor, the battle system appeared to be quite fast. It is cool, but I kinda miss the aeons. The special dresses are a nice touch though.

So far I have reached the end of story level 2.

Spoiler:
I have reached the under bevelle and need to set some switches here.

BTW, anybody know how to beat the Queen Coerl which uses a death blast?
