i'll ignore character design and look at the battle system, which is supposedly going to be like vagrant story. How it'll retain parties like that, i dont know, but it seems pretty cool so far.

I wish they'd come up with newer looking characters for once. Ever since... well... they got into FMV, their characters look mostly the same through out the games. Same funky hair, same looking riona/whateverhernameisinffx, sepheroth lookin guys in each game, all of them have really funky ass looking hair, that would to say the least, be impossible to get without a looooooot of moose in rl, haha. They need some new guy to head the project, or at least a new artist. Just IMO.

But, why they should change them? They are supposed to look mixed anime and real life style, so why change that? They look marvelous IMO.

Its still anime, just a different way of course. Anime isn't meant to be limited by big eyes. Its the way of character-design/communication, story (telling) ,szene layout etc. But this could only be judged after you (and I) played the game.

That is exactly what i mean. They are anime, but effects of 3d graphics give them touch of real human look. They look perfect in other words.
