Sega Japan to put classic titles online

Titles scheduled for release include Sonic & Knuckles, Gunstar Heroes, and Ecco the Dolphin. All told, there will be 30 titles available at launch, and Sega plans to eventually offer over 100 games. Sega will also release some of the Megadrive titles as stand-alone products for the PC under the Hompo brand. The retail games will be released the same day as the launch of the online service, but the price will be considerably higher; each title will retail for 2,000 yen ($18.50).

By the sounds of it, you can pay a monthly fee to get all the genesis roms you want and play it on a sega made emulator. They're (sega) doing this alot these days...

I believe real.com has something similar to this with real arcade. It allows you to download old genesis games like sonic the hedgehog and play them for a certain amount of time(60 minutes i think). You can play the full game for a fee, i believe.

well. there's also the illegal roms area...but it's good to see that they are at least offering a legal version, like music and iTunes, new Napster, etc
