Games are not available in the traditional way, but can be downloaded via Download Stations to the Flash Memory Card in Nintendo-affiliated retail, compact disc and bookstores throughout China. There are also plans to sell games online.

Yes, I read a story about this a while ago. It is made by Nintendo, which is why there's a "© 2003 Nintendo" on that site. It's a pretty intuitive idea, similar to the Atari joystick that plugged into the TV. I don't see the point of using the N64 games, though as some households (like mine) actually still have an N64 console in their living room. IIRC, it's supposed an attempt to curb the rampant piracy in China, hence the lack of a North American release.

Nintendo never relesed the N64 or SNES in China and they are worried their that the GD-ROM might get cracked, so they release old games on carts and making them cheap enough, hoping no one cares so much about the cost to get ROMs of the games.

Re: Nintendo iQue - N64 in a gamepad?

Been meaning to add it to our site. Indeed it does N64 and SNES. Uses Flash mem cards particular to each unit. So not swapping of cards..one card works on that one unit....and only a certain amount of space is available. Filled the card up? delete the existing games to get a new one. So did you waste money on the previous game? Supposedly the system will remember that you purchased certain games...so if you have to delete a game, and want it back, you can re download the particular title for free if previously purchased.

Re: Nintendo iQue - N64 in a gamepad?

hmm seems like less interest here than i thought...

well, I found this interesting to post partly because of the technology. Nintendo has the technology to put most of the N64 onto one chip. And this product shows that if they were to include a battery and a screen you could have a Gameboy 64. Who knows what GBA2 is going to have in terms of computing power.

Can't you order those online?

BTW I don't know how the Namco one would be like... I mean it's not handheld, but it's so small.
