Re: The best Beat'em up game ever .
i put the best one of the , cause most of the time series have good games and bad ones (MK is a good example ) so putting the near best game of every series (well famous ones) was the solution .

Re: The best Beat'em up game ever .
virtua fighter and doa aren't in there, heh. well, I only recently got SF3 third strike, which I find impressive (very fluent animation)....but I'm nor sure which I find the best... I think Capcom vs Snk 2. ..oh, you didnt include Guilty Gear either. ![]() but you're bound to forget some anyway, there's just too many ...also, many ppl consider the SF Alpha/Zero series to be better than SF3.... ah anyway, it's hard to make a proper poll...you ought to do it differently in fact...like make it a whole contest; first a poll in which you choose the best game from each series, then let the end results compete against each other. winner gets a special screenshots thread on ngemu or something

From the current choices, I choose Last Blade II. But you did miss alot of other games like samor said. Yours, -Elly

Re: The best Beat'em up game ever .
I voted for Garow. ![]() But I wanna ask something: is Street Fighter 3 better than Street Fighter Alpha 3 in your opinion? 'Cause if I made this pool, Alpha 3 would be on the list, not SF3. edit: Ok, don't answer this. I only read the other posts after posting this!edit2: (I LOVE this Edit button!) This list is actually quite great. The only things I would change where the Street Fighter 3 and Teken Tag (Teken 4 is better in my opinion!).

Re: The best Beat'em up game ever .
Why you didn't do it based on series, I don't know, as SF3 although good is no way near as good as alpha 2 or Super SF2. CvS2 got my vote for this one tho, but it was a damn close match with SC2

Re: The best Beat'em up game ever .
Perhaps just semantics, but I always thought a "beat 'em up" game was more like a Double Dragon, Final Fight, or Streets of Rage type game. And that these games are usually just called "Fighting" games. Anyway, my favorite fighters are the SF Alpha series (with SFA3 being my favorite), and Samurai Showdown series (I like all of them - maybe 4 the best, but I'm not sure). I really like Rival Schools also, and Guilty Gear X.

I agree with Rhombus and Kaiser Sigma, "beat'em up" is the name for those one-on-many fighting games, traditionally side-scrolling, but not necessarily (there are 3D beat'em ups that are definitely the same genre). The 'em means many enemies at the same time. Obviously it originated from the term "shoot'em up". The one-on-one fighting games are usually refered to as "fighting games" nowadays. I call them "duel games", but no one else does. About the poll, if it's "best out of these" I would vote for Capcom VS SNK 2. But I'm not voting because there are too many better games not listed. As many said, there are just too many popular games in this genre to do a poll like this. Even series would be too many, and too vague as some companies make intra-series references and characters and gameplay elements. I guess the best way is to divide them in companies, or in "fighting systems" in general. Or alternatively do a poll of the genre in a particular platform in a particular year.

Re: The best Beat'em up game ever .
well for me i took the expression from a european tv channel called "game network" so don't blame me . and lord kane the reason i used one game from a series not all the series is above in one of my posts . and any way the poll asks 'bout the favourite game not the favourite series .

Re: The best Beat'em up game ever .
But that's purely your opinion. As I said, SF3 was although good, definately not the gem of hte series IMO.

Re: The best Beat'em up game ever .
Argh, no Street Fighter Alpha 3 . I also loved Samurai Spirits 4 and that's not up there either. Out of the games listed there I guess my fav would be Garou (Darkstalkers 3 would be a close second).
