Re: What ever happened to John Romero?

Yeah, he was behind Daikatana.
Basicaly the story goes something like this:
He was part of the iD team and worked on Doom and Quake. He left between Quake and Quake 2 IIRC, he was treated as something of a celeb for a bit, started Ion Storm with funding from Eidos, spent too much on making the office fancy and not nearly enough on developing programs. Ion Storm Dallas died, leaving the 'other' Ion Storm which produced Deus Ex, System Shock 2, and Anachronox intact fortunately. Romero is now a nobody.

Just goes to show you why you shouldn't let fame go to your head.

Sigh... Well, at least we still got Carmack.

About Ion Storm Dallas, did they nearly get the boot too, because of John Romero?

And will we see another Anachronox game?

From what I've seen of Romero's own work, he was overrated in the first place....

I can't remember which cities each Ion Storm were in, but Romero's one died but the other one survived because it actualy produced some worthwhile games (hell in fact IIRC all the games from it are A+ games)

Nothing has been announced, but it would be nice.

Romero? He's dead. I shot him in the head with a rocket launcher at the end of Doom2
