VALVe Steam System

Well the beta for this has ended .. now the official client is out, meaning WONid and the old way of playing half-life/cs/any-other-mod will be dead in two weeks when WON is deactivated ..

Meaning you have to play through this client . Personally, i think its a bad move cause this needs a stronger computer plus it takes alot of time to load, alot slower then the normal CS/HL Game ..

Comments ?

Re: VALVe Steam System

sigh... why do they have to break things that aren't broken? lets hope they get enough complaints and scrap the idea.

Re: VALVe Steam System

Right now, like in the beta shipping, valve's puny bandwidth allocation collapsed under the stress and no one can actully use it anyway .. Their Site is down and their program is broken .

7400 signs in the Anti-Steam Petition So far .. they just killed their #1 money making game . too bad :\

Re: VALVe Steam System

i think that the colapse will make valve make a good investigation through the whole working team to get the one who made that stupid idea

The Canucks Are going to buy them ?

or is it just a anger blowoff since nVidia cards work so poorly under HL2 ?

400 Mhz processor
1GB HD space (recommended)

Yay for some people i suppose ..

Allright, now, after Steam has updated the platform and i got the cache files (either via a Torrent link for them or the Full installer) i can now finally play CS1.6 / Half-life on Steam . only took 2 days to install Valve, gj

Re: VALVe Steam System

if you used steaminstall.exe you're stuck .. Go to fileplant and grab steaminstall_cs.exe which includes the platform, steam,hl, and cs updates including CS1.6 needed to play .
