Re: Dolby Digtal VS DTS

From what I've heard, 6.1 actualy muffles a lot of sounds.
Anyways Dolby Digital 5.1/5.1EX is far more supported.

Re: Dolby Digtal VS DTS

From what I heard DTS can output more frequencies than dolby digital can (higher and lower), so it probably would sound better but I haven't heard it before. But DTS isn't used as much as dolby digital.

can't say i can agree with that. The extra rear-center maks a hell of a difference with my setup.

it does sound better, yes. The main reason is because DTS uses a lower compression rate if i remember correctly.

Yes that is true also. Has anyone heard DTS on gta vice city? I haven't heard it before but it probably would sound really good with that game.

Re: Dolby Digtal VS DTS

Yeah, but we only had 5 speakers total at the time. My Cambridge soundworks don't support DTS.

Re: Dolby Digtal VS DTS

Prologic is pretty good too. Doesn't gamecube and vhs tapes use it? I haven't heard much of surround sound (or a lot of stereo) cuz I have a mono headset for my comp .

Re: Dolby Digtal VS DTS

I wasn't saying that prologic was bad, not at all. In fact, it's most likely cheaper to get because it is analog and it has less channels (i think its either 3.1 or 4.1). Most recievers have support for prologic/prologic2 (even those $150 ones). If you're looking for a reciever with prologic/dolby digital/dts, try going to www.crutchfield.com. I've seen their magazine thingy and they have tons of stuff like that (as well as tv's, digital cameras, car audio, home a/v, etc.). In their magazine thingy they have recievers from $130-150 all the way up to $4400. I'm not sure about international shipping/ordering so you will have to check for youself. Sry if I sounded like I was spamming (I am not trying to) but since we were on the topic in case ppl wanted something that could handle DD/DTS
Ok I'll shut up now .

edit: here's that $4300 reciever. It handles everything mentioned in this thread.

Re: Dolby Digtal VS DTS

prologic is 3.1 - thats front left, right and center and a single limited-range rear surround.

prologic2 is full 5.1
