Similar to Xenogears, but, in a very movie like way, like, you play 30 minutes, and you get 1 hour of cut scene, let's hope Episode will have more gameplay.

I'm suprised they made Xenosaga Episode 2 a direct sequel to the first one considering Xenogears is the 6th episode in the series and is a 1000 years after Xenosaga Episode 1.

Xenogears is episode 5, not 6, 6 happens in the same era as Xenogears, but, no one knows anything about it.
And Xenogears doesn't happen 1000 years after Episode 1, but 10000 years later.

i haven't played xenosaga, but if you say that its 10000 years before xenogears, does that mean they have or haven't crashed on the xenogears planet (whatever it was called) yet?

This I'm uncertain of, so Exodus correct me if I'm beyond wrong. Correct Xenogears is episode 5. But from what I read in an interview from its CREATOR, xenoGEARS, was not what he wanted it to be/become. So, he scrapped the idea, left square, and with mostly the same team began work on xenoSAGA. Saga was to be what xenogears wasn't, so basically, from what I got, I don't even think GEARS is part of this, yes it shares the same theme, because it is the same theme, just basically remade into what he wanted it to be in the first place. So, lastly, I don't know if GEARS was part 5 of the original idea, or if he is leaving GEARS as truely part of the entire saga. So, since SAGA is what his true vision was, I dunno if Gears has anything to do with this at all. Unless he stated that it does, rather then us speculating it, and saying otherwise.

When he says that XenoGears wasn't what he wanted it to be, it's because the team had to rush the development cause of a lack of money @ Squaresoft at the time, hence the rather sucky second disc. There gears in XenoSaga, though they don't have their mystical role yet, and their called AGWS. In fact, Gears get that "mystical role" only when the Eldrige crashes on Xenogears' planet (no official name) and the Zohar gets into action. Gears are a part of the story, but only really important in its last part.
Oh and, Xenogears/Episode 5 is scheduled for a remake, as a part of the Xenosaga (same game, but the way it should have been with the proper fundings).
One last note, Monolith Software said they wanted to release all Episodes on PS2, I guess they gotta increase their release rate

Most certainly, I don't think Square would let Namco make some cash on a game developped with their money.
Releasing Episode 5 with the exact same gfx as the PS version would be dumb, since they'll include all the stuff tha twasn't in the initial release, I don't think they'll bother developping with PS1 quality gfx :P

Oh, and I got this info from a friend who bought a book called "Perfect Work" it's a book made by the Xenogears author that contains lots of artworks and details about the Xeno story.
