Arc the Lad: Is it just me or...

...is it ridiculously hard to save in the game?
I had to play for over an hour and a half once before being able to save again. I would have damned the game if I died then. :frown:

In the 2nd part of the series you could easly save. I never played the first one but use the savestate function if its too hard.

hard to save? not really. whenever you can see the map screen, you can save. how much more saving ability do you need? i just finished playing through it, without any saving problems.

Sorry, I should have mentioned Twilight of The Spirits, on the PS2.
The save option doesnt appear anywhere in the menus during the mapscreen.

Aye, an RPG it is. Very similar to tactics in gameplay.
Thanks anyway Exodus, but the save points are appearing more frequently later in the game.

Re: Arc the Lad: Is it just me or...

Hmm, your tastes... I dont really know them when it comes to RPGs, infact I probably dont know them at all (lol), but I would say that if you like a game that isnt REALLY challenging (FFTactics was), has a satisfying battle system (Sort of like a beat 'em up, there's no real challenge but its rather interesting and fun to play) has a rather hooking storyline and a is mainly based on it you'll like this game. It really lacks in the voice dubbing and music department though, I turned the voices off during battle.
If graphics doesnt matter and you like a challenging game, I would say Final Fantasy Tactics is definately the classic you should play, being much better than Arc the Lad in the gameplay department.

BTW, the battle system of both games involve you taking positions in a 3D battleground terrain before attacking. Like, you'd be able to move behind an enemy instead of attacking in the front to increase critical hit rates and chances to land a blow, instead of selecting a command in the menu and having your character do the stuff automatically.
Both games allows multiple characters in a battle and usually has multiple enemies as well, though FFTactics has a main character and other customiseable ones. You'd have to build your own team in there by hiring mercenaries and leveling them up, or accepting quest characters into your party after completing the quests. The classes of characters are also your choice...
Arc the Lad lets you gain pre-built characters as you advance in the storyline

Now if you suddenly said that you knew all there is about FFTactics and Arc the lad, Im going to break my keyboard.

Re: Arc the Lad: Is it just me or...

Graphics matter? yes
Storyline: most important
RPG thingy: I don't like
Realtime cutscenes: I love
Turn based gameplay: I don't like

To make it simpler for you and myslef to understand it, how does it stack up against FFX?

Re: Arc the Lad: Is it just me or...

FFX really shone in the storyline and graphics department and sound department, but I found its gameplay rather unattractive. Still a good game nonetheless.
You'd really have to play these games to get an idea of it. You should check the reader reviews on gamespot for both FFT and ATL...
They are both turn based BTW.

Re: Arc the Lad: Is it just me or...

based on your gaming preferences, ATL wouldn't be your type of game.
but fawad, would you say the only rpgs you'd play are the more... realistic graphic ones, like FF10 as opposed to Suikoden3?

Yes. Realistic graphics ones. Anime style usually doesn't very much appeal to me as well as the so called "kiddy" thing (Kingdom Hearts).I'll be trying Xenosaga pretty soon but I don't like big robos much

*Chinoz hops around the room gleefully, knowing that Hanamichi is stuck with Gran Turismo3, Devil May Cry, and one more boring game*
