where did they go?

Quote:
When a new Tomb Raider game subtitled The Angel of Darkness is released for Playstation 2 and the PC, expect a refashioned Lara Croft who engages in hand-to-hand combat with evildoers. (In previous games she either ran or shot them with her handguns.) Her infamous bust line, which prompted some women to complain that the character was gratuitously sexualized, will be reduced to more lifelike proportions.

When you're watching clips of Solid Snake parachuting in style and exotic cars racing in photorealistic graphics, do you care about a stupid crap like Tomb Raider?

Never.

I havent played any of the series and I dont think its going to interest me this time either. This creepy woman in cheap, revealing rubber clothing with two guns blasting through weird creatures turn me off.

i played the TR2 demo that came with my PSX, and it sucked. i prefered parappa therappa, until it started to freeze everytime i tried to play it. apparently, the PSX didnt like that game.

Tomb Raider "Angel of Darkness" has been delayed again. The makers are truly trying to make the game worthwhile since previous releases have not sold well. Chances are it will be released around the same timeframe as the upcoming movie sequel....Also it appears they are trying to spin off the series with a new character, and Lara playing more like an MGS Snake

The 'Tomb Raider' games main selling point is the busty main character; past that the games don't anything to offer at all, if you want a good game they have NOTHING to offer. The gameplay and such is garbage, and the 'storylines' aren't tip top either... I have played Tomb Raider 3, after that I have never touched another one of those games.

They are a waste of time.

Rehash, rehash on the wall... when the h3ll will it dry and fall...

Thats the song I'm singing in my head right now...

And I assume everyone's just fine the huge number of FPS and RTS clones in the market? There are other game series that are more guilty of rehashes than Core. The Tomb Raider formula worked for the first two games in the series (it was a lot more innovative than Quake that's for sure) but went downhill after that. If they had just improved the engine the series could still be good (afterall, the Quake series were just clones of each other but with different engines).

Tomb Raider may not be so hot right now but it deserves its place among the great PC games. It deviated from the standard FPS formula and single-handedly raised the standards for women in games by introducing a female protagonist who could kick some serious ass. A lot of people respect 3Dfx in the same fashion. They did extremely well with the Voodoo 1 and 2, and even though the Voodoo 4 and 5 were sub-par products there are still a lot of 3Dfx fanatics out there and many others who acknowledge 3Dfx's accomplishments.

Damn straight!
I really liked Tomb Raider I and II... I remember playing at a friend's house, when I still didn't have my PSX. Ah, the memories...
The other Tomb Raider games weren't all that bad; just the idea became repetitive and, therefore, boring.

Hehe... Taisen, maybe they're getting their own spin-off game? Though would it be like Tomb Raider or pac-man?

The series did go down after that but IMO the first one was quite cool.

guess the same could be said about resident evil. that ones the same thing over and over... but didn't they sell well? oh well. i guess people got tired of unproportional Lara.

I liked the Venitia level in tomb raider 2....tr1 and 2 were quite cool; starting from 3 it got worse (well, not really worse but lack of innovation)...and IMO MGS owns it, but not a fair comparison; its a totally different game.
and I also agree...rather a tomb raider styled game than another military fps
