The thing is a survival horror game based on the movie of the same name. The movie is a mdernized remake of the original 1950s movie The Thing. Basically, a team of scientists up in the frozen wastes (in Alaska or Antartica, not sure which) find the tail of a space ship sticking up from the ice. They dig down to the ship and discover a frozen creature (The Thing). They dig out the creature and take it back to their base to thaw it out, which turns out to be a big mistake. The creature is plant like from of life that drinks blood and is able to regenerate part of itself. Thus the survival and the horror begin. I know all this because i have seen the original many times and still enjoy it to this day. It is rather gory though, especially the scene where the scientists find their sled dogs hanging by their tails from the ceiling w/their throats cut (I told you it drank blood).

poor dogs... its one thing to kill humans, but dogs? oh, the humanity!
i vaguely remember a movie called the Thing. i think i just brushed it off as one of "those" movies.
