Galway no Sora, I would expect the PS3 to be quite expensive when it first comes out. All consoles were this way. Expensive at first, then, as they aged, the prices dropped. Example: When the Atari 2600 first came out, it retailed for around $400 (US dollars).

The SegaCD was around $500 (US dollars I suppose) and it was only an add-on

As for the PS3, what if it doesn't feature backward compatibility ?

When the PS2 drops to $149 I will consider purchasing it. but not until then. Christmas perhaps. Maybe I can comvince them to lower the price for my birthday in November...

You can keep that out. Most probably it will play PS2 games. I can't say whether it'll support PSone games or not...

When the Atari Jaguar... one of the crappiest systems ever, first came out, it was $800 US. The Neo-Geo home console was $1000. Just ridiculous.
