Yu-Gi-Oh! and the soulless Animemarketing

I wonder about the new Anime (in germany just released) Yu-Gi-Oh! And I'm sad. I'm Anime-fan since my very few years and this soulless We-want-your-money-strategy that the Animebusiness exhibit makes me angry. You can say that the first Anime (PokeMon) with this Card-Trading-Games-Theme was sort of fun, and you can say that Digimon was good designed and had some cool characters. BUT Yu-Gi-Oh! is just a collection of some stereotyp characters, unlogical battles and "I know what yet comes" -situations. If this money they take with this crap would be used to make some very good animes, I would not been so angry at all. I will keep looking Yu-Gi-Oh! but just because I need Animes like bread and water to live. One posetiv thing I have to say about this is that every Anime in this genre looks different. But thats all.

Greetz

Um...all anime is like that to a certain extent, not just stupid card/monster raising shows. You just don't see it as much elsewhere because a lot of the other games haven't been released in other places or released much later to take advantage of popularity (read: DBZ).

DBZ IMHO is nothing like the pitiful excuse for an Anime that YGH is. At least Dragon Ball has something resembling a solid storyline, and a more unique battle system whereas all i've seen from Yugi is some of the most stupid, insideously pathetic monsters pop of some even lamer playing cards:eek: and some (if not more so)equally lame character development...

You have to differ between a following line of animes with a top selling conzept (like pokemon and digimon and other) and a series who was written by A.Toriyama because he had a dream, and he lived for his dream! He worked 10 years long on DBZ! He does what he does because he love his work, not because of the money. And BTW: After the battle with Cell, he wanted to quit the series but the fans and the publisher forced him. THATS a big difference!Uhm ...Sorry, I lost myself :embl:

If you want to get right down to it, DBZ is actually in the same vein of marketing strategy. When it even has a card game, that says a lot about the goal of the series...

The MARKETING stretegy that take the publishers may be the same, but the intention of the series is completly different.

The show DOES get better, trust me. I didn't really like Yu-Gi-Oh at first but there is a pretty good storyline to it later on if you keep watching.

I will keep watching, but you can't deny that this series was just published to make money, and thats make me angry, at the end, sure, every series is published to make money, but just moneymaking makes me angry, this is so just soulless and has nothing to do with the original japanese charm, and heart ...hope somebody know what I mean
