I've played FF7 PC on my Voodoo 2 as well as on my TNT2 and GeForce 2 (with the Nvidia patch) and I've had no such problems. I played it in Windows 98 and ME, haven't played through in XP (I know 2K and XP have problems with it). BTW, I can't really remember the scene that you're talking about.

Never had that problem... was able to play start to finish on the PC version. I had a voodoo2 at the time dunno if that made a difference.

No problems with my game. I had a voodoo banshee at that moment. But it crashed if i used a limit break (are those for ff8?, well, the equivalent) with any of the characters when i was fighting a weapon when i was in mideel.

The fix for the movie was just puting it on your HD, editing the regestry to tell FF7 that your HD was where the movies are, getting past that part, then editing the reg back to normal. I never had such problems as what you're talking about, but I've heard of quite a few people with that problem. *OR* you can just tell the game that the movie is "on" your hd without actually puting the movie on your hd, you just have to wait the time that the movie would have taken in darkness, then the game would proceed. As for FF7 on XP, it seems to work as good as it can on my computer. I even found a WinXP patch for FF7 which was supposed to fix some problems I never have run into. My only problem with FF7 right now on my PC is that I have a radeon, so I can't use any sort of 3D with that game, since the cards don't support 8-Bit Textures. Curse them for not fixing this, and they even know about the damn problem, too. No wrapper I have found (voodoofiles or not) have had one that works with it. I got my voodoo2 "working" with WinXP, the only problem is that for some weird-ass reason, Direct3D for Voodoo2 was disabled in XP, so it only supports Glide and some form of OpenGL. And of course, FF7 and FF8 use Direct3D.

Yep, same here. I went RPG crazy after FFVII, bought just about every RPG for PSX I could find. Too bad none of them were half as good as FFVII. :o |
