PC games and GFX card

Ok,come to think of it,pc really lack of games but nowadays we can see that gfx cards are produced more than the games for the pc...Let say now u r playing nba live 2003 with geforce2,upgrade ur card to ti4200,of course games runs smoother but the next-next-next day u still playing nbalive...So here,if gforce6/gforce7/r10000/r12000pro are released there is no game that can show it real power, unless pc have a variety of games like ps2,or a colorful cartoon game like gamecube...so latest gfx card can't change much of pc gaming world,so here which is more important, more gfx card with core/mem clock 700/1400 with ddr 3 or more choices of games?

what the hell does the graphics card have to with games.

If it's eye candy... yes

if its just the game... hell no.

as for the eye candy, both games and graphics card goes hand in hand. developers would like to develop games to as much people as they can. they don't go to the technological superiority people, but goes for the broad audience. why? they make money more.

why would they make a game that can only be ran in a geforce 4 ti or a radeon 9xxx class cards. Thing is, not everyone has it. not everyone is willing to pay for it, and the money is always made in the low end/ mainstream section.

fonzieahmed has a point
like fifa2003, not the best looking graphics around, but i still like it
And the FF series for the PSX, graphics certainly aren't the best, but the game's great
But with gf card upgrades, one can enjoy the best of both worlds, you see. Playing a great game, with lotsa eye candies and little performance hit

Doom 3 uses OpenGL. It's uses enviorental bump mapiing and pixel and vertex shaders of similar to DX8 spec.

Doom 3 will be an OpenGL game. But it might use the OpenGL equivalents of some DirectX 9 features.

Doom 3 seems to be a mixed bag of DX7, 8, and 9 technologies. It'll use bump mapping and stencil shadowing features introduced with the original GeForce/Radeon 256 and also make use of (OpenGL equivalents of) pixel shaders and vertex shaders. John Carmack's stated that his preferred method is ARB2, which will arrive in the form of OpenGL 2.0 in the near future and can be compared to DX9. It's difficult to say how it'll run at this point but there's going to be a lot of technologies in that game.

Look, the thing is that game developers (for PC..duh ), are only starting to use DirectX8...not even 8.1, but 8. And we already have DX9....so, by the time they learn and start using DX9, i'm sure we'll have DX11 or 12!

I wanna see games with the aesthetic look of the PS2 or Gamecube!! Let's see some Cell Shaded games!

I'm getting sick of the games looking the same....

ready2rumbelX: Don't worry. When Doom 3 is released all yours doubts will instantly vanish. You'd be hard-pressed to find a game on the PS2 that looks every half as good/advanced as Doom 3 will.

I think that they are both quite important. More advanced video cards will allow more advanced games. More advanced games will mean more happier players and consumers. More happier players and consumers will mean video game companies working harder on even better games, which will............well, you get the picture.
As for the advanced cards of today, maybe not a lot of games take full advantage of them, but what they can do for yesterdays games, WOW!:eek2: Try an emu like Gens and a game like Sonic on a card like a Radeon 9700 Pro or GF FX with 2x SAI enabled. Then see what you think.
sincerely,

pc really lack of games
Lacking? You haven't been to an Electronic Botique store lately have you? It's not that they are lacking in quanity, what they are lacking in, is quality. Very few game makers have the time to make good, quality games that are worth paying for, because they're all being bought up by companies whose leaders dont have the brains God gave a flea, and think that you can just shove a game out whether it's done or not
