I am not sure if it is legal to post such links where entire music files are avaiable to download. Admins: can I?

Generally not. Pretty much any loosely legal music like that is at zophar.net or can be acquired through said site's utilities. Having said that, a LOT of the midi files at vgmusic.com are pretty true to the original game music.
