Diablo 2 kindness? Or am I in big trouble? :p

I started up a new character at US East (my first one for non-marathon purposes). A necromancer, of course, since I don't have anything to start with. I was playing in Arcane Sanctuary when a level 76 necromancer came along for a while in the party. I was pretty nervous, considering everything suggested he was going to go hostile and kill us dead. But no, nothing of the sort happened. After about half an hour of playing, he asked if my necromancer used a wand. Of course, I said. Some silly amplify damage +2 wand. He said he'd get me a better wand. He left the game.

I figured that was the end of the story. But no, a level one character joined the game. Big deal, I thought, happens all the time. But he said, "Come to act one for the wand." I threw up a TP and ran as fast as I could, not expecting anything worthwhile. He opened up a trade window with me and put two wands out, both uniques and both +2 all level wands (one being Ume's). He asked, "Which one do you want?" I said, "Ume's. " After all, not like I was REALLY going to get one of the wands, since I have nothing worthwhile...at least on this account. He took out the other wand and clicked on accept. Lo and behold, I had Ume's for free. He left the game and didn't come back.

So now the question comes up: is this some sort of totally unexpected kindness, or is there some kind of new trade bug hack/exploit I'm not aware of? -_-

Well it's kindness and it's one of those things you'll never see again.

The same thing happened to me about a year ago... before all the Dupes and Hacks became so common...

I was rushing my newly created Paladin. I was in Nightmare dificulty about to take on the Ancients (in act 5) with a group of strangers. So between that group there was a lvl 80 somthing Palading helping us out. We went we fought... we conquered... we got our 5 lvls.

So i went back to town to get some potions. And then the Paladin just aproched me and said something along the lines of "Here take this, it'll come in handy." And then he gave it to me, an Atlantean Sword... I was surprised since i did come in handy... even so that I still use it. So I just gave the guy my deepest gratitude, and i left since i had to go. Still surprised... i'd never expected to see that. I wouldn't had believed it if it wouldn't had happened to me.

I will always remember that... and when i decide to retire from D2.. i'll give my equipment to other random ppl and teach them a thing or 2 about kindness.

well, its not that surprising, ive joined dozens of games to help newbies, i gave away a necro crossbow, amazing stats, 2 to all skills, like 300 poision damage, a lot of other +skill stats, it was a very good item... although i did keep my grim's burning death, which was my best necro item, a super deadly necro scythe ... right now i had an extra titans which i gave to my friends brother, although i kept my titans, a buriza or 2, and my friend's windforce

its kind of like a power trip, you know? the big guys help out the little guys. i know i wouldn't go the trouble of joining a game, leaving a game and coming back with another character just to give somebody an item, too lazy for that.

I'm sure it was a random act of kindness. Now let's see THAT happen in a PSO game.

Amen to that! If you play an open DC PSO game, chances are you're gonna get your a$$ NOL-ed, PK-ed, CK-ed, RSOD-ed, and all of that other crazy crap.

Speaking of which, anyone still playing DC PSO these days? I ain't got no one to play with these days

This is PSO Hacking Terms 101:

PK = Player Kill. Not supposed to happen in PSO, but Gameshark does wonders.

NOL = NOL is actuallly a NPC in the game. Basically what happens is someone with a Gameshark turns you into this NPC (or any other NPC), essentially wiping out all your stats, items, etc etc

CK = Character Kill. Again someone with a Gameshark sets your Max HP to 0, effectively rendering your character useless.

RSOD = Reset Screen of Death. Resets your Dreamcast without warning. (Again with a Gameshark or a cheat device).

Fun eh?

wow, i've always been a fan of gameshark, but this gives me a new reason to love it. thats pretty pathetic though, people blatantly cheating like that. hmm... i wonder why not many people are playing it

not as fun as diablo 1 used to be

i went into a game with ghost mode on, stole an item somebody dropped during a trade (it wasnt good but that wasnt the point) watched em argue and call each other thieves, then killed them in town... oh that was evil, but quite fun , i havent pked people in years though unless they really asked for it

And don't forget to add the really nasty Vkill. It erases the data of your VMU rendering completely useless...
As for what happened... there has to be an unknown bug, online players aren't that kind

I've given out pretty much decent stuff myself back then, some who's worth more than Ume's.
Talk about kind people, some guy I talked to for like an hour gave me 12 stone of jordans when I was a poor sod. Needless to say we quickly became friends.
