I take it that you have only played FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX (no offence meant). Allow me to explain:
FFIX is a return to the roots of Final Fantasy, that's why most people who have only plaed FFVII and FFVIII before fail to appreciate it.

Back to topic, the worst game I ever bought was Fallout 2, and it was partially due to a stupid move of Interplay (details can be found elsewhere on the boards) and partially due to a persistent déjà vu feeling.

.
Nope, most people dislike FF9 because it was pure crap.
I've also played 5 and 6, and the pathetic attempt of FF9 to be "retro" made the game even worse.
The only good thing about it is Vivi.

FF9 IMHO wasnt that bad, but if I had to name a couple rotten apples in the series i'd start with
Mystic Pest errr...I mean quest

-Music sucked
-Gameplay sucked
-Over all it just sucked
-Not to mention it was the most idiotic, watered down RPG I have ever had the misfortune to come across

Next up would be FF8
-Ditto for just about all the reasons listed above.

No I dont think so, pretty sure I already pointed out that I didn't think 9 was that bad...I rather liked it because as someone already pointed out it was really at it's heart, a return to the first Final Fantasy which if you've played them form the begining you'd know why that was so cool.

If you take 8, and replace the drawing system, it'd be ok. A subpar RPG, but OK. FF9 had pretty graphics and nice music, plus I liked the combat system.... except: No multi hit attacks, pretty much making magic useless.
Futhermore, the plot was sooooooo predictable. I could tell you exactly what was going to happen to the last detail after playing it for less than half an hour.

I thought TR was supposed to be a breakground game. Its successors weren't, though. The newest one should be better...

Oh yeah. The first TR was the best of the bunch.

The trailors show some promising gameplay in the New TR. Let's see what it holds for us....
