Micrososft Aquires President of Sega of America

Quote:
On Friday, Sega Corp. said that Peter Moore, President and Chief Operating Officer of Sega of America had resigned.

The company didn’t explain Moore’s departure other than to issue a statement saying “We thank Peter Moore for his four years of service…and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Yesterday, Microsoft announced that Moore had joined the company as Corporate Vice President of Retail Sales and Marketing. Microsoft says this newly created position will focus on retail businesses in Europe and Japan for the company’s Home and Entertainment division, which includes the Xbox console and Xbox and PC software from Microsoft Game Studios.

Part of Moore’s responsibility will undoubtedly be to bolster the Xbox platform’s penetration in the European and Japanese markets, where sales have not been nearly as strong as they have in North America.

Moore’s duties at Sega of America will be taken over by Tetsu Kayama, CEO of Sega of America’s parent company.

Moore’s departure comes a little more than two months after Sega announced reduced revenue and profits due to poor sales of many of its game titles. In 2001, Sega abandoned production of its DreamCast game console in order to focus on developing software for Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony consoles.

Interesting None the less. Strange to see this. But this could pose to be interesting how advertising is handled in the future. But it does seem microsoft might have some new plans for after the holiday season

Yeah, Nintendo lost Ken Lobb to them too a while back. (you might know him as being the person who the KLOBB (Goldeneye) was named after.)

Is that so ? If you ask me I think he is the main responsible for the Dreamcast sales on US... he did a good work with the marketing of the machine... who knows ? Maybe it can help, even if it's a bit...

Depends on the perspective... I bet that the entire Sony, Nintendo community would have the greatest of joys on that issue

Well, the guy responsible for designing the Xbox was also the guy who made Jurassic Park: Trespasser...

He actually wrote an article once criticizing Miyamoto-sama and the way he makes games. I thought that was the funniest **** I ever read.
