I just can't understand how is it that SoA ignored the importance of the SoR saga... it's easily one of the most memorables creations of Sega...

However, since when SoA has the last word on which game can be or not released... maybe there was something else going on...

Well, considering the Japanese market isn't into Beat em ups as much as the US market, they probably wanted SOA to approve of the project first.. Too bad though.. Looked pretty cool..

Another cruel example of how Sega of America and Sega of Japan had real communication issues.

Well, the game was or was not released in Japan?

I do find it rather unusual. SoA I would believe to jump on a game like this.

The game was never released anywhere.. The article states that the game was in preliminary planning only.. Those game videos are nothing more than to test ideas for the game.. But sadly it never made it farther than that..

The article also says that SOA had no idea what Streets of Rage was.. :eyes:

And I always thought SoA was on the receiving end of foolish moves. Oh well, maybe Street of Rage will be resurrected during this console era or the next.

For a good in-depth history of Sega, check out http://www.atani-software.net/segabase/ which will eventually go to http://www.silverspar.com/segabase/ but is still at atani for the time being. A good read on the subject of video game history.

/me draws his sword.
How. HOW? HOW can SoA neglect such a superb series. Streets of Rage 2 was, and is, withought a doubt the greatest side scrolling Beat-em-up ever released. Although 3 was poor in comparison, it still kicked nearly everything else out there. Streets of Rage 4 would have undoutedly been a game worth playing.
I am very pissed at this, and am tempted to storm the SoA HQ and threaten them until it is released. On any console, I don't care, as long as I see another Streets of Rage.
