The GameCube version is a port of the DC version, with a few extras. And it will be officially released in North America this time around.

I have played the DC version though, and it does indeed rock. Some of the new features on the GCN version really intrigue me though. If you finish the game, you get a password, and if you input the password on the game's website, you can see your ranking compared with other players worldwide.

Ikaruga is a DC gem and despite of my lack of interest in that genre, I liked it. I am thinking about getting a personal copy. After May after May after May. Damn! time passes slowly!

Ikaruga is indeed a beautiful and extremely good game but its so damn short that I wouldn't pay more then 35$ for the GC version.

Well ikaruga sure seems to be a good game and all but how hard is it compared to for instance Gun Bird 2 ?

Caus Gun Bird 2 was doable but quite hard/frustrating sometimes.
But still I managed to complete it about 1,5 times on the arcade. (with only 5 credits that is )

You mean story wise right ?
The story in gun bird 2 is just stupid IMO but the game itself is quite fun. Or you might mean better looking ah well , that always happens , I don't go by looks of a game anymore , I'm more interested in playability and lifespan.

Ikaruga is rock hard. It also eclipses any other shot-em-up I've evey played.
The fact that it looks and sounds superb is neither here nor there.
