We're getting closer to LIFE:the game™
I saw this game and had to give a little rant on it. Check out the game There. Make sure you visit the developers section too. Maybe I'm part of a shrinking mentality, but I don't see the point of playing a game that allows the player to do things that are possible in everyday life. I like to play games that allow one to do things that are not possible in reality or are illegal. I also may like a game that is very similar to reality in alot of aspects but puts a significant twist on that reality (some RPGs for example). But why on earth would I want to play a game that allows me to do something like go shopping or spend a day at the beach having conversations with other players of the game? If I wanted to spend a day at the beach I would drive to a real beach(and no, I don't live even remotely close to a beach). If I want to have a conversation with someone then I go out to a party, bar, or friend's house or at the very least pick up the phone. Its not that I think that people are going to stop going out and socializing just because of a game that simulates that. In fact the opposite is true. I think this game is unnecessary and hope that it will not become popular. Obviously this whole post is just my opinion and I'm not trying to criticize or preemptively negate opposing views. Just had to get a rant off my chest. |

This game puts the question on line: Why do we actually play games? My answer, to do things we can't in real life. |
