NGEmu Diablo II Marathon

I've been thinking about doing this for a while, but ChrisRay's thread about NGEmu gaming finally got me to set my plans. I'm planning on having a Diablo II marathon this Friday (1/24) evening that will last until approximately noon on the following Saturday (so rig those soda/coffee machines up

). It'll be a game with hopefully 8 players covering all the various classes in a party-oriented run from fresh-off-the-grill level 1 character with nothing to his/her name other than the default equipment through cows (or maybe just Baal) of Hell difficulty.

Some rules of the marathon:
- As already noted, no outside buffered eq. You only get to use what you find/buy. If you run into something good someone else could use better, you would obviously benefit more from giving it to that person.

- No cheats/hacks/maphack. Diablo II's plenty easy as it is. If you already use these ( :fingers: ), turn them off/don't use them in the game. Use only your own wits to survive. It's a lot more fun bumbling around in the dark.

That's all I can think of at the moment. If you can think of any additional rules, feel free to note some. Now for the details I need from interested people that would be easier to set up now than quest time (for obvious reasons

):

- What class(es) do you want to play and/or are best at?
- What place would you prefer to play at (one of the "closed" realms or just an open realm game?)?
- What time you can/want to play in Eastern Standard Time.

Here are my answers to my queries just as an example/point to ponder.

1. I'd prefer the druid just because I think they're a blast (

), but I'm also pretty handy with a paladin and do a decent enough job with a sorc. Heck, I'd even play a necromancer if I really had to. -_-

2. I'd prefer open just because I could use the name I want to be and not have to use some incredibly lame name.

3. 9 PM EST Friday to about noonish Saturday. Although I could technically start as early as 5 PM EST Thursday...

Although some details will have to be handled at #NGEmu on EFnet a bit before the game (like the name and password of the game), there's no reason not to take care of most of the planning stuff now.

I'm not sure I'll be able to play this friday, but here's my info:

1. I prefer the Sorceress, but can also play well with a Paladin.
2. Don't really care.
3. EST = GMT-5, right? I can start playing at around 8PM here, that would be 5PM EST.

I'd like to play online, the rules are fine specially starting at level 1.

1. I prefer the amazon, since Diablo I played with the Rogue, 'cause I don't like melee combat which I suck.
2. Doesn't matter
3. Don't know because I'm having final exams.

About the ngemu channel it'd be ok, I'd like to add that why not to leave the channel & password info on this thread so everyone who would like to join the game do as he/she wishes. Just as the ngemu channel on mirc.

hmm... if i were to join in the fun, i'd be one of the female classes since i have a character for the male ones already. judging from the previous posts, that will make me an assassin.
i also agree that open bnet would be better too, that way, i could play with them in single player.

I'm NOT doing that for reasons that I'd rather not elaborate on. The biggest problem with people joining as he/she wishes is that anyone could join. I'd love seeing some level 90 character join the game and just start going hostile on everyone when we're fighting Diablo or something like that. -_-

Having 8 players isn't a must... but the more the better, mainly for the difficulty and for the treasures...

treasures shmeasures. all through normal and nightmare we'll be finding sigon's set of weakness or the like. but, i believe in "the more the merrier"

if i were to install it once more i would prefer closed battle.net on east, i'd really like to use my 80 barb with dual lightsabres or 77 javazon with titans revenge, but i dont even know all this mirc efnet lingo stuff so id probably get lost in the directions process

i probably wouldnt be able to play with my good characters anyways since theyre all expansion

Just select the irc Network efnet when you connect via the file menu... the Efnet I use is : EU, NL, Amsterndam...
Once you selected that network you can join the #Ngemu chanel...
