Maybe there is a god.

New Parasite Eve game announced (well... not officially yet) for PS2 and GameCube.

Quote:
CubeNation is able to reveal the developing of Parasite Eve - Rebirth, a title by Square Enix, that will hit the market at the end of the year 2003 on PS2 and Gamecube in Japan. For those who doesn't know the saga, two previous episodes were already launched on PSone, and have had a well deserved success. Parasite Eve - Rebirth will be a brand new episode offering an innovating combat system, digitalized voices, and an astouding technical realisation.

This game, who will be sold in the US and Europe during 2004, will be, according to our asian sources, much more entertaining than the ones before, and offering a huge lasting appeal. This is a game that will be a long-awaited one on Nintendo Gamecube, as this adventure/action pack could pretty much break that for-kids game reputation people have about the Gamecube.

We will keep you in touch when we will have more information.
You know what? If Square wants to get on my good side again, this is REALLY a good start.

Finally Square are making another PE, I wonder what the story is about and what it looks like. Will Aya be older of younger?........

Well, given the title, I would assume that it is a prequel? that would either make Aya either older, younger, or not present.

The name "rebirth" sounds like it could happen well after the events of both PE games as well. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm kind of worried about the line "much more entertaining than the ones before"... makes it sound silly and arcade-like, not serious. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it though.

Hmmm... you might have a point there. I really don't know **** all about it, or even if it exists. Yet CubeNation has been right many times before in the past. I might just give them the benefit of the doubt.

I just hope they make it an RPG again.

Finally my words were partially listened.
Ninja this is great news, now we can start to speculate about the game indeed.
Hopefully the game will be realesed for GCN
Rebirth, that's a suggestive name, a remake of PSX PE? maybe, a precuel, secuel, it's to damn early to figure out how's going to be the game.

...or they could actually base it on (more faithfully) the Novel this time around. And if that was the case, it would be very, very sad. I rented the live-action movie hoping to see all sorts of neat-o mutant rats and cockroach men.. and.. well.. it was a waste of my S3.29. Lots of gratutious nudity and immolaton though.

Im all for them giving it the old RE GC remake though, as long as they made it a tad meatier (even though the shortness of the first one did add a lot to its replay value , for me anyways). As for the second one, I never played it as everybody told me it was pretty crappy. I just know that it had some big underground base and possible government involvement; so there was no more Mitochondria Revolution?

News like this makes me look towards the 24th even more .

The second one just sucked.

I didn't think the movie was that bad though. It was seriously lacking in action, but the story was pretty solid, even if not what I expected.

One of the above posts said that it wasn't an RPG? So was it like a RE clone? or what?

Oh yeah, the story was great, just the movie as a whole was not $3.29 great(Im extremely picky about movies ); and that really poor CG blob ...eh.

No, PE2 was a poorly made Resident Evil clone that had some RPG elements. However, it was poorly balanced, and the game wasn't very fun.

grrrr.... i hate the control of pe2, i hate the control of resident evil, i hate the control of onimusha. Don't they know by now that control sometimes makes or breaks the game.

whoever thought of this kind of control needs to get shot

I, and many PE1 fans, hated it. They made HUGE gameplay changes that made it feel more like an action game with a few RPG elements... unlike PE1 which was like an RPG with a few action game elements. With PE2 it felt like they took the worst parts from both Resident Evil and Parasite Eve and put them together into an awkward and crappy control/gameplay system.

I loved PE1 and PE2 is what turned me off...I love RPGs and to me there are not better games to play.If the next PE is anything like the first, place me on the bandwagon. And I think the control scheme for Resident Evil Games are perfect if you could run anyway you want there would not be a sense of not being able to escape and it would take the scare factor down tremendously.

Something this wonderfull can only be the work of god, thats why. -jk-
Like most people PE2 really disappointed me. I hope they'll be good at it this time. I havent heard of the PE movie or novel at all though.
BTW, I thought that the controlls for the RE's wasnt so bad. Im guessing that they made it that way because of the always changing camera angles. You wouldnt want to walk forward in a corridor and turn around suddenly when the camera angle shifts.
