Well it is a game from 1997... Probably a combo of DOS and Win 9x.

Did you get it to work?
If you did, then please tell me the location and size of each file after the game was completely installed.
I am using the version of windows the site says is required by the game.

Gex needs a 3DFX Voodoo 1.

How did you know that?
Is there a way to get around that maybe with a glide wrapper?

Nope. IIRC, like Screamer 2 it tries to directly access the Voodoo hardware.
I know because I have the game on my shelf.

The requirement for the demo is SVGA according to CNET Asia. Why does the full version require Voodoo instead? Could you post the full set of pc requirements from the box?

I have been trying to find the demo version but have run into only dead links. Do you happen to know where it is?

Edit:Would that explain the problem I am having?
A window pops up twice with the same error message and then an illegal operations window when ever I try to run Gex. The error is an MCI Error according to the title bar of the error message. The error message goes like this: MMSYSTEM275 Cannot find the specified file. Make sure the path and filename are correct.

The version of Gex3D I have requires a Voodoo chipset. That may be looking for Glide2x.dll. I doubt a wrapper will work, as my Voodoo 5 has major graphical probs.

Ummm Kane, this thread is about the first gex which was originally on the 3DO and was ported to the PSX, Sega Saturn, and PC.

You are talking about Gex3D:Enter the Gecko which was originally on the N64 I believe and ported to the PC. I don't remember there being a PSX port, was there one?

I'd like to try it out for you but the download speed is way too slow on that site. 18k/s tops for a 30Mb file.

I have the original full version of Gex. It works great on my computer. Its not a DOS game. I have Windows ME and Directx 8. BTW, Gex works even in a Pentium 100, with Windows 95 and 8 MB RAM. Since u downloaded a ripped version, maybe some files are missing. (Gex have 250 MB).

I just downloaded it and I do notice 2 problems: I get an error just like the MCI error that you mentioned, Taisen, and a graphics error, but this is only due to the fact that I'm at 32 bit color, while the game is made for 16 bit color (you can easily bypass the feat of changing your color depth each time by running the game in full screen mode). Other than that, it works perfectly.

Do both problems disappear after changing to 16-bit? I know others having those 2 problems so I'll pass the word on and maybe it'll help them. It is of no use to me since I have always been running in 16 bit. Is there a way to start the program in fullscreen?

No, just the graphics problem gets corrected. I don't think that there's a way around the other. And I've tried setting the default video mode as Fullscreen, but it doesn't stick.

That would probably account for the MCI Error:MMSYSTEM275, but those files don't look like they are crucial since others can get the rip to work.
