Angry Metroid Prime Crash!?!

I just got a gc and metroid prime today, and i was about 15-20 mins into the game when it just crashed and locked up. the game didnt respond, and the system wouldnt reset. I was going up the elevator to the chozo ruins west and it froze when it was loading the new area during a cut scene of the elevator going up. Has anyone else had this problem?

Nope. I have taken that elevator many a time, and without incident. The game has been totally stable on my GameCube as well. The only games I know of that have serious glitches are Rogue Leader and Star Fox Adventures.
