Kojima's New GBA Game
A while ago, you might recall Hideo Kojima (creator of Metal Gear) saying that he was working on something special for GBA. It turned the heads of a few Konami higher ups, who were amazed at the new thing he was doing. It's finally been revealed. http://www.gameforms.com/news/?619 The game is called "My Sun", and contains a light sensing device that will be integrated into gameplay. If you need to sneak by a bunch of guards, you had better do so under the cover of darkness, by dimming the lights. If you are fighting a vampire, then it would probably be a good idea to raise the shades. Personally, I am a little skeptical of how this is going to work. Many people (myself not included), have a problem with the colors on a GBA, and feel the need for bright lights when playing. Somehow I get the impression that these people will simply put a piece of tape over the sensor when playing and be done with it, thereby neutralizing the effect. I can't really say that I blame them, as it would be a pain in the arse darkening the room every few minutes, and then turning the lights on and crap. I guess we will see how it turns out. Kojima is a pretty good game designer after all, even if I did hate MGS2. |

That's an intriguing idea. Bizarre... but intriguing. I agree that it would be somewhat of a nuisance to have to constantly change the lighting. Also, the place where I usually play portable games is in a car or bus or something... in that situation, you don't really have much control over the light source so in the day time you'd have to cover up the light sensor and at night I guess you'd have to keep the light in the car on, but that's still pretty dim and probably wouldn't work that well

just cover the sensor with your finger and you should be fine, apparently.

Eh, I dunno, it sounds more gimmicky than anything else; but the Japanese are crazy for crap like that. Just like.. Hey You, Pikachu! I thought that Kirby's Tilt n Tumble (?) was a pretty good use of stuff like that (how it actually played, I dont know, it couldve been terrible). I think you could incoporate a similiar system, without the use of an outside sensor. Plus, it would be so easy to cheat; when you are fighting Vampires, just put a halogen bulb by the sensor and Presto! pantywaist vampires, or better yet, they just turn to dust right off. |

The idea isn't that bad, although it can be easily "cheated". I'm doubt it will work fine, personally the GBA colors aren't appreciated OK without good illumination where you play, maybe the idea would work better on a VR environment.
