Skies of Arcadia Legends (Early 2003)
Evolution Worlds (Early 2003) Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (2003) Tales of Phantasia (2003) Give the GameCube some time. It's still a pretty new system, and good RPGs take a long time to make. If you have a GameCube though, you owe it to yourself to try Lost Kingdoms out. The game seems shallow at first, but it's actually really fun to play and addictive. At the very least it will tide you over until the big guns arrive. But RPGs aren't the only genre that's good. |

On PSX?
Xenogears, Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, Breath of fire 3 and 4, Star Ocean 2, Dragon Warrior 7, Tales of Destiny 2, Tales of Phantasia, Legend of Dragoon, and Parasite Eve. On GC? There are none ATM AFAIK. On PS2? Final Fantasy X, Kingdon Hearts, Wild Arms 3, and many, many more to come. On PC? Baldurs Gate 2, Arachnorox, FF7, Diablo 2, Nox and Planescape Torment to name but a few.

Vagrant is a good game... although I don't know how much it cost there in the US...
and Ninja and Lord Kane have a good list there... enumerating games for GC, PS1, PS2 and PC... no XBox??? not worth the time to find out...

Vagrant Story is good, but it's an Action RPG, not like the FFs and Star Ocean, et all.
The X-Box? What RPGs does that have? Morrowind, which is already on PC. Well on the Horizon is Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (An action RPG), and Shenmue 2 (Which I don't consider an RPG). All in all, not a good outlook, desu ne?

The PSone is host to many great RPG goodies..many of which are now available for $20 or less... The cool thing is if you do get a PS2 you can enhance some games (though we prefer emu enhancements)...most Square games are a safe bet...Enix and Working designs as well...we have noticed however that there are 4 distinct types of RPG fans. The futuristic 3D eye candy lovers that love games like FF7, FF8, Frontmission, and Xenogears. Then you have the hardcore strategy RPG lovers who crave Final Fantasy Tactics, Vandal Hearts 1/2, Tactics Ogre, Saiyuki, etc. Then there are the medieval "dig the storyline and love it even if it's 2D" fans who love the classic FF's, Dragon Warrior 7, Arc the Lad series, Lunar series, etc. Then there is the last batch who swear by this so called "Action RPG" genre (damn marketing terms..it's an adventure game not an RPG dammit!) who dig the Zelda-esque types...
Either way you have a wealth of gaming to choose from |

Lunar Silver Star Story,
Lunar Eternal Blue Complete. Excellent RPGS for you to play. They are somewhat difficult to find thanks to the cocky individuals that work for working designs. Releasing such a popular game with limited copies of it. Just a bad idea in the gaming industry. (thanks Victor Ireland ya dumby) |
