Bloody hell! GTA 3 vs The Thing grrrr the hardest decision of all time?!

Well... which one should i get I want the thing cause its scary looking nice graphics and excellent gameplay (from what I'v heard) but GTA 3 for its uniqueness. How exactly is The thing played I need an explanation Its definately more complex than your day to day fps cause of the squad based action

Well, The thing is more like a survival horror. But I'll pick GTA over it anytime, anyplace, anyday.

gta all the way, donīt even think about it. i played the thing, it was nice at first, but itīs just too easy, not scary, i finished it in just a couple of days, and i didnīt even played much per day, gta has much more fun, much more things to do, much more everything, get it by the way, why donīt you get gta : vice city ? itīs just around the corner.

edit: your partners in the thing donīt make a difference, and they becoming things isnīt scary, theyīll all die anyway, so even less points for the thing. i think that the thing (??) was just an overhyped game, the publisher bought the sites for them to give it good reviews, just that...

I vote for the thing. I have GTA, and it gets boring really fast. I haven't tried the thing yet, but I really want to. It sounds like it made the transition to video game quite well.

I couldn't find anything other than previews for the Thing. When's it out?

The Thing is already out for PC... came out in August. I gotta vote for GTA3, it's fun even when you're not doing missions. I was so addicted to GTA3, luckily it came out on PC right after my final exams were over - otherwise I woulda failed, hehe.

Vice City is coming out soon for PS2, but if it's anything like the original GTA3 then it might be awhile before the PC port comes out. I think there was a 6 month gap between releases. So if you don't have a PS2 and you're talking about the PC versions, you can amuse yourself with GTA3 in the meantime while waiting for Vice City's release.

Well, I have played enough GTA 3 to know that many games exceed it in quality. It's not as bad as Fantavision, but it's not as good as MGS 2 either. (I don't like MGS 2 all that much).

Personally, I am a big Thing fan, and the game looks well made from the reviews I have read.

But if you ask anybody to compare the Thing to GTA, he'll pick GTA over it. This thread gives you an idea.

I'd take GTA3. I've seen some gameplay clips of The Thing, and it failed to impress me. If you have the PS2 however, wait for Vice City which is just around the corner. (4 more days?)

The graphics for The Thing on the PC are quite unimpressive and don't really take advantage of the improved graphics a PC can hold over a PS2. GTA3 on the other hand can look really nice on the PC with a good graphics card - much better than its PS2 counterpart.
