Does FF10 have Random battles?

Just curious. I have not played it. And I finally decided to start playing FF9 again to try and beat it. But playing through it I have come to the conclusion that I detest random battles and they are so completely un neccasary...

In most games random battles ARE neccessary. But maybe not for FF9, I have not played it yet.

Erm random battles are not neccasary, Several games do wonderfully without them.

Grandia 1, 2 Chrono Cross.

Lunar The Silver Star Story (compare it to Lunar the Silver Star) This shows you that a game can be programmed without random battles in Mind.

Lunar Eternal Blue Complete (Compare to Lunar Eternal Blue for Sega CD)

Same thing.

I am totally against random battles and they are in FFX. The frequency of battles is a little high IMO.

Man the random battles were crazy high inside Sin. 3-4 steps! Yeesh! I just slapped on some battle preventing armor and said "fuggeddaboutit" to leveling up. The place where you fought Omega weapon was horrible, too. :eyes:

You mean FF8, right? Yes, the Tyranosaur monster is quite tough. He's impossible to beat without junctioning.

I agree that random battles are lame. They should really re-innovate the series as a whole.

FF8 had so many nasty "regular creatures." T-Rexaur was just the first taste. The things on Heaven/Hell islands were just crazy hard. And FFX is a lot like that. 7 & 9 seemed more . . . balanced.

I have no problem with random battles, although they do try my patience occasionally. After playing FF1 and FF4j though, all the FF games of today pale in comparison. In those games it was like a battle every 2 squares.

I dont't mind the random battles. They are just part of the game. I didn't particularly like the battles in FF8 tho... it was kind of cool having to fight a really tough random battle every once in a while.
