I'm going to boycott Squaresoft if they don't come up with something besides
Final fantasy. Its driving me crazy ff this then ff that. Cant they just freakin listen to the bloody consumer (Thats us - ED) and make a more worth while sequal i.e. chrono trigger who agrees with me and if you don't you've probably never played that game before

There were two sequels, and they both sucked.
I don't want anymore. I've had enough. Just let Chrono Trigger be remembered as the great game it was, and stop contaminating its memory. EDIT: Forgot to mention. The third sequel is well underway, so this poll is irrelevant. |

The innovative games that they had, they screwed up. Parasite Eve was great but they screwed it up with PE2. Chrono Trigger was great, but they screwed it up with Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross. Secret of Mana was great, but they screwed it up with Legend of Mana. Xenogears was great, but they ditched the franchise entirely. Oh well.

Actually, Xenogears they gave back to the original team that created it didn't they? IIRC Monolith Entertainment is composed of the original Xenogears development team isn't it?
Actually, Xenosaga is the biggest temptation for me towards the PS2 at this moment. |

XENOSAGA, reason why i bought my ps2, but think about it. How good can xenosaga be if they plan to make the game into 7 parts? To get the whole story, you need to play them all. Wouldnt that ruin, in essense, xenosaga at its root? Its like completeing zenosaga 1 and its not complete, you have 6 more to go through. I dont like that idea, but guess we gotta live with it.

chillypacman, the FF series is what REALLY made Square and got them going. It is their "Bread and Butter" so to speak. This is why you hear so much about it. Boycotting Square (I sincerely hope you are kidding) if they make another FF, won't make a bit of difference because very few people will side with you. Best just to accept and ignore the FF mania that abounds.
sincerely, sx/amiga |

Can't agree with you, FF's are excellent RPG's and don't see why they should quit it.
I hve played CT adn yes making a good sequel to it would be nice but that doesn't mean they should stop on FF. I have played numerous Square games and they are all great but FF is my all thime favorite

the xenosaga was always intended to be like this, you already played part 7 that was xenogears, the problem is if they make short games, in a short time, like a comic book, every month a piece of the story, now thatīll suck.

I love the final fantasy series to i cant really complain. However i dont think its good business sense for them to place all their eggs on one basket to so speak. So yeah it would be nice for them to branch out. Although i cant say anything with regrads to chrono cross cause ive never plaued it.

the one who says the ct sequel (chrono cross) sucked is a sucker himself or didn't play the game long enough. I think cc is even better than ct in some parts. And I think square is making another sequel called chrono break

Why are you complaining? You want inovation??? FF games are ALWAYS inovating, but the players just complain. They inovate the battle system in FF7, but all I heard is: "The Materia system is so lame". They inovate in FF8, but: "The Draw system sux, yada yada yada...". All Final Fantasy games inovate a little, so just stop complaining.

The Materia system was good. The way FFIX did it was OK, forcing characters into thier respective roles, the Spere grid is also an excellent idea. The Drawing system was just annoying, making magic almost pointless.
FF innovated quite a bit at it's beggining. The point is now that they want to keep it similar enough so that people aren't alienated, while adding in new features.....
