Depends on what you like. my Favorite Strategy/RPG games are Dragon Force and Dark Wizard.

I'm not into action strategy games. I prefer turn based

The best (or atleast the most popular fan favorite) turn based strategy game would be heroes of might and magic series... theres about 4 games in total with 1-3 expansion packs for each ... i also liked disciples 2 but it was quite different, Heroes 4 was a good game but it was very different from 1 2 and 3, but i liked the music in it

The best is definitely "Homeworld".

F-3582, I loved North and South. That was one of my most played NES games.

That being said, here are my favorite strategy games.

RTS: Starcraft
PC Turn Based: Alpha Centauri
Console Turn Based: Pacific Theatre of Operations 2
Tactical/Strategy RPG: Final Fantasy Tactics

For me, it's both Total Annihilation and TA Kingdom. I like the games ever since I play it for first time years ago.

I'm not quite fond of Blizzard's style.

I have a copy of Homeworld. It finally got cheap, so I bought a copy. I am about halfway through it, but I got very mad at it, because I kept on paying money for a Missile Detroyer, and nothing came out. It was angering me greatly, so I turned it off. It seems that the only way I can expand is by stealing ships. *sigh*

I'm a notorious hater of RTS and tactical games. The only ones I've ever liked at all are Dungeon Keeper 2 and Heroes of Might and Magic 3. I especially like HOMM3 cause it requires basically no thought to play, and just a mouse... I like to think of it as just advanced solitaire.
