GTA3 PC crashes...

I have this LITTLE problem with GTA3: after some time of gameplay, the image stops, an annoying BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP sounds and my comp completely crashes, so I have to unplug my PC in order to restart... anyone with this same problem? any solutions? THX!!

Did you overclock your video card? It could have had some stability problems if you did.

No I didn't... whatsmore, I formatted my HD and re-installed WinXP yesterday... I downloaded last detonator drivers, last DIrectX version, plus I got 128 more Mb of RAM, and the game runs really sweet.
NOTE: I already had this problem before HD format/RAM update/winXP update.

Try going back to DX 8.1

That's the one I am using... 8.1b, I think... wait, I will post my specs to give you full information:

AMD Athlon 805 Mhz
256 Mb SDRAM PC100
Riva TNT2 32 Mb
Windows XP Pro edition
DirectX 8.1b

Use an older detonator. I'm still using 28.32. The newer ones aren't exactly tuned for TNT2s.

uuhh. maybe your computer can´t handle gta 3.
i have the same config as you except for the cpu that´s an athlon xp 1700 and it runs really slow.

That's what happens when you crank it up to 2x FSAA.

Well, it ran fking slow before I updated my RAM... now it runs really smooth... I managed to play for about 1 hour without this problem, so I think it might be quite random...

shiori tnt2 can´t do fsaa. at least mine doesn´t

Download patch 4 GTA3
- it solve some problems with sound

& don`t use pirate (not oryginal) ver...
-they work much slower than oryginal game
& got lotzzzz of bugs (load/sound/and more)
