there have been many facsimiles of the 4 main classics that made up the nes snes and sega systems but they for the most part lost their charms in the more recent years... these 4 games that were "the founding fathers" so to say in my opinion would be mario, zelda, megaman, and sonic... and from these more games spawned but with more lacklustre... these would be games like aero the acrobat, geck, and ofcourse, crash bandicoot, i would have included earthworm but that game sort of belongs in its own classical category since it was a very good game and it wasnt really at all like its predecessors

As for the kiddie part, well it'll be cleared up when BMX XXX will be released on GC

For the PS2's lineup:

Onimusha2, Kingdom Hearts, Tekken4, GTA VC, Smackdown4, Suikoden3, Star Ocean3, DMC2, Xenosaga, Silent Hill3.

There are my personal games that I will try at some stage later or now. A for Glass Rose, I donno but I also saw it on the PS2's soone-tobe-released games somewhere.
The kiddie game part is here to stay! It don't make a diffrence if they put in a hundred of the most violent games on GC coz its kiddie games are here to stay right guys!? Right? I hope you agree with me

Syed, I don't think that even if the GameCube had a complete lineup of BMX XXX, BMX XXX 2, Pr0n, Pr0n 2, and games such as Bloody Racing, Gorey Racing, Prostitution 101, and a single Mario game, Lord Kane would still argue that it is a kiddie system that happens to have Mature games. It's the perfect argument in that it's true of absolutely ANY system, as every system is bound to have at least one game that he could call kiddie. On GameCube I guess he thinks that Pikmin and Mario are kiddie, and the others just happen to be there. It's nothing that I can argue, I just wish that he would rephrase it. as for mocking the PS2 lineup, I apologize. I just have a little tunnel vision of my own at present trying to figure out how I can get the games I need.

Smooth Playa, I have never understood how Crash Bandicoot gained any kind of popularity. He always seemed kind of stupid to me. Especially when people would start bashing Mario as being a kiddie game, then start raving about the new Crash Bandicoot game. It always just seemed to be ultimately retarded to me. I never really played any Crash Bandicoot games other than CTR, but that game seemed to be a knockoff of Mario Kart more than anything.

Kingstar, Nintendo and Sega both do a fair amount of innovation. Mario and Sonic have always represented two different directions of platformers, and it's always kind of intrigued me how the two platformers could always be so different. They evolved totally seperately, and it still shows today. (Mario's still da man though. )
And thats why i am happy to see Sega and Nintendo working with each other nowdays. It like the old ex-"friendly" rivals allied together to beat the new threat coming from Sony's PS2 and Micro's Xbox.

Mario and Sonic are both innovative and cool characters, although mario is kinda funny, for he's a plumber

PS: This might sound strange, but do you think a Sonic & Mario game will seem good?

So all of Sega's current and upcoming titles on the PS2 and Xbox are really just part of Sega's big plan to topple Sony and Microsoft?

In a game like Super Smash Bros. or another combination where all sorts of characters from different games are put together for no particularly good reason? Sure. In a platform game putting the elements of Sonic and Mario together? That would be like having a horse radish and peanut butter sandwich.

It'll cool only when Mario is the evil one in a Sonic game

Im really into RPG games so I voted for Squaresoft. I enjoyed all the Final Fantasy series that I have played. Final Fantasy 8 and 10 was one of my favorites of all time.

Kingstar, I wouldn't discount it. It's pretty much common knowledge in the industry that everyone wants Mario to meet Sonic. Of course, they would both be the good guys. New enemies would have to be made, but I don't think that it's entirely impossible that it would be a straight platformer. Think of Sonic Adventure, and how you could control the different characters. It wouldn't be really all that different if Mario was one of the extra characters. (But of course featured just as prominantly as Sonic).

Of course the key to making that work would be to properly show the teamwork between Sonic and Mario. They have to be shown interacting with one another, while each of them keep their own distinctive playing styles.

What would be good for that might be a co-op mode, where one controls Sonic, and goes on ahead, while Mario does what he's good at with the jumping, and climbing. Maybe a vertical level with a few pipe warps would do the trick, as it would slow Sonic down a little, while still allowing the Sonic player to speed. A few puzzles that required teamwork might also be nice. Such as: Mario grabs Sonic, tosses him into the air, where Sonic rushes the far platform, and activates the switch that makes a path of bricks to appear for Mario to walk across.

I don't know, I think it could work if enough thought was put into it.

Some guy once hacked a rom and stuck mario with sonic (not very good on the account of mario's legs and arms wherent moving when he was running around and he looked more like a brick instead of a sprite) and it really didnt appeal to me

Check out this that I found when looking through my SNES ROM collection - I think it's just a hack, but even still.

well, it would need some serious hacking (close to rewriting the whole engine) to make a Sonic & Mario game, but i guess someone could do it if he had l33t ASM skillz. there are some i know, but they wouldn't do it just because we're asking ^^ too bad

nyaa

edit: typos

Sega making games for PS2, never heard of it,.........Mario and Sonic might be good if the gameplay and story plot were good/.......

Sega making games for PS2. Never heard of it???? Strange. Crazy taxi is one of the examples.

For Sonic and Mario; well it would be good to se them meet but not in a platform game. I think it'll spoil the gameplay unless brilliantly crafted.

They'll be better of in SSBM2
