One of my favorite RPG's of all time is Origin's often overlooked title, Windwalker. Developed by original and inventive designer Greg Malone, and programmed by Origin's infamous "Dr. Cat" (those of you who have played the Ultima series will recognize Dr. Cat, as Richard Garriot put him into the series as a recurring character.)

Personally, I thought that Wing Commander was where Origin really showed their stuff. I can't say enough good stuff about that game.

From outta no where "Lucas Arts" came to my mind. Games like "Day of the tentacle" Monkey Island series "Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis", etc are just remarkable games.

Hey, where's Enix? Oh well, I'll just go for the last option. All of them are good in their own way and style.

A lot of ppl will vote for Square while disregarding the excellence of the other manufacturers that made the games industry what it is today. Square has the crown for RPG's but this is a poll the the best "Games" manufacturer not "RPG". Thats why I voted for Sega and Nintendo, although i do love square RPG's

My Brother Mafoo recently bought a gamecube, and he said this: 'It's a kiddy console which happens to have some adult themed games on it, but what can I say? I'm a big kid! Nintendo have always been like that in my opinion'
I'd have to agree with him on that.

Actually,.....most Squaresoft games are RPGs ( PE and FF series),.....Capcom had RPG and fighing games ( streetfighter and RE for example) ,....when i posted this poll, i meant by " Which company produces the BEST games for all genres?? "

edit : I am quite glad that Microsoft did get any vote,..but did you guys forgot games such as Age of Empires and other microsoft games on PC ??

I think the reason that so many people voted for Square was the nature of RPG's. Sure Square makes almost only RPG's. But most players connect much more deeply with RPG's than with any other kind of game. The amount of gameplay, complexity of story, and depth of characters makes a good RPG experience unforgettable. So although Square really only excels in one area, it is an area that people have the strongest link to.

I don't really think RE is an RPG, but they did do BoF.
Square also released some excellent non RPG games, sucha as Tobal No.1 and Bushido blade. Apparently thier racing game wasn't too shabby either.

Kingstar, I own 3 Microsoft games. Combat Flight Simulator (Jane's WWII fighters wasn't available at the time), Close Combat 2, and Metal Gear Solid PC. However, since those games are definately the minority, and were created by other developers, and simply published by MS (except for CFS), I wouldn't include Microsoft on any list of the best developers.

I really have to doubt the sanity of the person who voted Sony though. He must have really loved ICO, Twisted Metal, or Gran Turismo, as those are really the only Sony games I can think of that sold very well.

Now Lord Kane, as of the last count, I think that Xbox was leading in kid's games, then came PS2, and GameCube had the least. But that was a couple months back, so I am not sure anymore. At any rate, I don't see any notable difference in the level of maturity on the 3 systems. Most of the excessively violent games are multiplatform anyway. Except for maybe Resident Evil or Eternal Darkness....

*looks at Lord Kane's list*

oops! I forgot to put any Pokemon or Pikmin in my sig. how could I have forgotten!

Take a look at the Metroid, Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil pics though Lord Kane. Let's not forget that SSBM is also rated Teen either.

Besides, I think you should try Pikmin sometime. You might be pleasantly surprised. It's quite a hard game your first time through. And I don't think I need to remind you how much SMS rules.

SSBM is a kiddie beat em up. I'm sorry, but I'bve been looking at the line up, and it is mostly nintendo mascots, and hardly any serious games like ED and RE0. Yeah they are there, but they are outnumbered.
