mmm... Architecture has nothing to do with programming (well they have a lot of things to do, but not in the way I meant my statement)...

Technically speaking the XXXBOX features a tremendous hardware (IMO at least) if MS is so dumb**** to make a bad use of it (because of bad programming, just to name an example) the problem doesn't lie in the architecture... kinda like what happened with the PSX2 at the begining of its life (though it doesn't feature such a great hardware)...

The PS2 has problems because it's architecture is so far deviated from what programmers are used to. Architecture becomes a problem for the programmers there.

So meant to say that a good hardware is of no use unless you got good developers?

What I'm saying is that the PS2 hardware is less forgiving than the X-Box hardware.

Also depends on the complexabilty of the hardware. Remember Sega Saturn? It had specs similar to the psx, but because developers faced hard time developing games for the Sega Saturn, they moved for psx instead.

PS: Psx is so simple, i used to open it alot of times and change the lens when it gets damaged. )

yeah, but I think that the Saturn featured a hardware a bit more powerful than the one in the PSX...

True, but whats the use as long as the developers didnt make use of it. Its just like the case with xbox. MS put too mush power in it and until now, dont know how to make use of it ( and that makes it look dumb )

The Saturn 3d engine was based on Quads (it was the NV1) rather than triangles. It alowed you to produce higher detail 3d scenes, but it was awful to program for if you know polys. Polys were making headway mainly coz of the Voodoo...
