a poll about game manufacturers is near impossible.

I would include a number of european developers too probably (like codemasters)

If we're talking about console only, then a poll might be able to have most of the big names Sega, Nintendo, Squaresoft, Namco, Capcom, Konami, etc... if you include PC game developers though, there are far too many to list.

From YOUR LIST, Squaresoft is the best. But, if we forget RPGs, where is

KONAMI?

Chill down, pal, chill down. I'm not flaming you, just pointing out a fact. I know that it is impossible to list out all companies in this poll cause it's limited to 10. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Where's Konami?

Anyway, if you had asked me 5 years ago, I would have voted Squaresoft without question. Yet there recent work has left me kind of cold.

I voted for Sega/Nintendo, as I can always count on those two to produce quality games.

I voted for SEGA.. Far too many reasons why.. They don't have only one game in one genre that is good, but in almost every genre of games, they've made some great ones..

And where is my TREASURE?.. Hehe..

Squaresoft. FFMQ and Secret of Evermore did not suck, nor were they "turkeys", at least not to some peole. That is just some people's opinion, not everyones.

Square made FF: MQ didn't they? I know that it came out in Japan long before the US.

As for Secret of Evermore, I love that game, so I guess I could be described as a fan of Squaresoft.

IF Square begins producing games exclusively for GameCube, along with Sega,... then PS2 will soon die,....because the best gaming companies are supporting the GC ( if it happens) and thats what my friend Ninja is looking for ..............( Xbox will die sooner or later, i dont wanna disccuss this again)

It's a bit too late to kill the PS2. The userbase is afar too large. I am thinking that it is possible for the GameCube to kill the PS3 though... but time will tell.

As for Xbox, Rare really worries me. Tecmo does too, but to a lesser degree. I am no longer nearly as confident as I was that the Xbox will die a horrible death. Now it seems to be just wishful thinking.

As for Square though, they are 20% owned by Sony. I don't think that they will be leaving Sony anytime soon. Square actually had to create a dummy corporation to develop GameCube games in the first place. (But wouldn't it be weird if Square went bankrupt, and Dame Designer's Studio picked up where Square left off? hmmm.... food for thought)

Dammit yeah, Tecmo... how could I forget about them. I don't have any of the Next Gen consoles... but seeing a new Ninja Gaiden game really tempts me.... <sigh> oh well, not like I'm gonna get an x-box.

Ninja, yes Square did produce FFMQ. The reason it may seem "dorky" to many people is because it was designed as an entry level RPG. It was something to get your feet "wet" with. Then you would feel more confident with more "hard core" RPGs.
Another company that was not on the list, don't worry Kingstar I'm not compaining, that was one of my favorites, is Origin. Origin has since been sold to EA but when Richard Gerriott aka Lord British owned it, Orgin gave us such wonderful games as the Ultima series, Bad Blood, Times of Lore, Mobieus, and others. Another company is Sierra: Kings Quest, Heros Quest, Space Quest, etc.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

ohhhh yeaaaah... origin and sierra, those are two other greats, origin for the ultima series, sierra for the krondor series (i still consider betrayal at krondor a classic, surprised not too many people know about it though, it was released a while ago and now is freeware on the sierra site)
