I shall agree with you Syed,.....Sega lost its profits after the death of dreamcast,.....its selling its games for the one who pays more and thats why we see various sega titles on PS2, xbox, and GC. I really liked Shenmue, but i ll go crazy if nintendo didnt get Shenmue III before microsoft

But the Dreamcast is a great console, and I was actually quite saddened when I saw it die. If I compared it to the Xbox at any point, I am seriously sorry. I didn't mean it in that way. But I do demand that you withdraw your statement about N64 games being childish. It's a myth, nothing more. I look at the N64's game library, and I see Goldeneye, Resident Evil 2, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Zelda, and Tony Hawk. I really don't see what's so childish about those games. (Although I do grant you that some genres were very deficient on N64)

Well... let's start, first, Nintendo is profitable as company since it's the company whose royalties are the most expensive (thing wich I aprove, because that is the reason why even today they have so many money) yet... the sells for the N64 compared to the ones of the Dreamcast is quite low, in Japan the Dreamcast is still selling games, while the N64 died the last year on ar the begining of this one (by diying I refer to the fact that no one else makes games for the console)...

I'm not so sure about that part of N64 games not being childish... sure the ones you mentioned are outstanding but... what about Kirby, the Pokemon games, Mario Tennis, Mario 64, Mario RPG, Yoshi's story (I'm not quite sure if that was the real name...) and so many others... ? Not to mention that with the exception of Killer Instinct Gold the rest of the fighting games are quite lame, show me a Soul Calibur, a Dead or Alive 2 or a Virtual-On... plus, 3D rocks, but I never liked the fact that the games were only 3D, denying 2D is like denying the video game past... and one last thing, I liked Quest 64 but when I come to think of it, it was the only RPG the N64 had... (Zelda doesn't count since it's Action-RPG)...

One last point (though I think I mentioned it above...) in terms of money Nintendo will allways win for that part of the royalties but in terms of sells the Dreamcast beated the N64... just to make an example, in August 2000, N64 were expecting just 4 games, while Dreamcast owners expected no less than 10 or 11 games... sells couldn't be lower if ppl were expecting more games from one console than the other... and if I'm not mistaken, the N64 didn't make it too well in Europe, at least compared to the Dreamcast...

BTW, Syed... Shenmue IIx is THE ONLY shenmue going exclusive to the XXXBOX, there are great chances that we will see the rest of the saga in the GC and maybe in Sony's console... and I'm nobody's fanboy... later...

most people who don't buy nintendo's console is because it can NOT be chipped, while ps2 and xbox and dc can.

thats why psx beat n64 in number of consoles sold.

I don't think that's true... PSX beated N64 because a lot of companies suported them, while nintendo got stuck with a few... fortunately that changed with the GC...

It will be chipped sooner or later, but I don't think that'll make a difference.

Most ppl don't buy GC because of the N64's bad reputation and most ppl buy PS2 because of the PS1's great reputation. It is just that Nintendo USED to offer a very distinctive type of games in the form of Mario, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, etc. It s now that Nintendo is beginning to suite MY taste, and of course I am talking about the REs.

Heh, that's good. Yeah, PSX beat N64 in number of consoles sold not because PSX had more good games from more genres, which it did, but because it wasn't as easy to chip. ... yeah, whatever.

I agree with kaiser on this one. sony has become a powerhouse in the console scene because of the support of many game manufacturers who want their games to be played.

I presonaly think PSX did a better job all together. I thought that when the N64 came out. I wasn't a hardcore gamer back then, I was joeconsumer playing it off adds in magazines and word of mouth. I owned a N64 before I owned a PSX. hell I thought the N64 was the coolest thing sense the wheel. Then I started seeing games that I wanted to play and thats about the time I got sucked into this crazy world of rpg.(FF series)

well most fo the credit will go to the game developer... consoles are the hardware and the software gets the most attention. that's Sony is on top because of game developers like Squaresoft and Konami and much more... but you cannot disregard that N64 has its own charm...

Sorry Syed, if you take that as being offensive. I really didn't mean it that way. I was just mainly referring to the fact that Resident Evil seems to be the only GameCube game that interests you.
