THPS will continue to be produced for Psx hopefully, and since graphics only get better on consoles Psx will never be history.

the PSX will die eventually, but it's funny to see it outliving the Dreamcast.

Some games on DC were great too like Shuenmue and Virtua Tennis but they didnt achieve cult status

Ps had cult games like MGS and Final Fantasy, THPS and MGS.

I think that partly had to do with the fact that much more people have a PS than a DC.

yeah u'r right samor. PS definitely had a head start, but had the games on DC been good cause it definitely had better hardware power than ps , who knows......?

DC had good hardware, but suffered from bad marketing and bad timing; the PS was still going strong, and the PS2 and GCN (still named Dolphin back then) were already announced. Also, Shenmue didnt live up to the hype (it IS a very good game, but not a killer-app). Fighters like DOA2 and Soul Calibur were popular, but the PSX wasnt far behind with Tekken 3 and when the ps2 came it had DOA2 and Tekken Tag.
And Sonic, Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi were all awesome titles but they dont make or break a system. And the DC controller isnt as good as the psx one

Umm.. You just said MGS twice. Also the Psx is gonna die, the only reason its going strong is because of the Ps2's backward compatibility(greatest marketing strategy eva)

All that and the fact that by the time DC was release, almost everyone has lost faith in Sega. There are several reasons for the distrust and I'll name a few.

1)Sega doesn't have a good reputation for supporting their consoles. They have killed off almost everyone of their post genesis consoles too early.

2)Sega killed the Saturn while it was still going strong to release the DC. In fact, most of the best games on the Saturn were released in its final days. This wouldn't be so bad had Sega continue their commitment to support the Japanese. Instead they cater their DC to America and while it did pay off a bit, it pissed off alot of Japanese Sega fans. A result from this was that Shenmue and alot of Japanese targeted games didn't sold many. Shenmue only sold a couple of hundred thousands copies.

3)Sega has the poorest marketing staff in the videogame business. While their software were awesome, the incompetence of the marketing department left these great games in the cult and niche community. Several of these great games were: Skies of Arcadia, Super Monkey Ball, Samba. They choose to sport mindless sports games and it cost them greatly, fan support.
