Talking The Real Life Sons Of Liberty

For my summer reading, i am reading a book called 'pudd'nhead wilson' by mark twain. In it, their is a 'rum group', which basically is a group opposed to prohibition, called 'the sons of liberty'. I looked it up in the appendix of the book and it says, "The original Sons of Liberty were secret organizations formed in the summer of 1765 to oppose the stamp act; they later led armed resistance against British soldiers, and in New York dumped tea into the harbour." Fun, but educational, Eh?
