FF7, Ruby Weapon... missing?

Is there any known bug, issue, reason why Ruby Weapon would not appear? I thought it shows up after the defeat of the Ultimate Weapon. Well, I'm on Disc 3 and I've defeated Ultimate Weapon... Emerald is chillin down underwater, but Ruby is not in his normal place in the desert (I've beaten this game including the weapons several times - so I know to look for the tentacles in the desert near Golden Saucer)... could it have disappeared or not appeared for some reason?

Ah, he finally appeared... for some reason I had to get Cid's Venus Gospel before he appeared... really weird, that never happened to me before. Anyway, I think Ruby is much easier, I didn't need any Master materia, I didn't even use Final Attack at all, and only needed KOTR on level 2 to win

Rei, you can kill your 2 other party members first before entering battle. Ruby will bury its tentacles in the beggining of the battle if you do so. Revive your 2 party members then, since he wont remove them from battle unless you attack his tentacles.

Whoa?! I'm suprised to see you defeated Ruby Weapon without master materias and the Final Attack materia. You used only KOR to kill it? How? If I'm not wrong, you can summon twice times of KOR if your KOR materia is level 2.

yes you only need to summon it twice, max... a good tactic is to w-summon Hades and KOR, after that, just mime your way through... Ruby is out for the count thanks to HAdes and KOR does the damage

Mime sure can be usefull, eah? BTW, If the "miming" (is that a word? ) charecter has higer magic than the summoner himself....will the summon of the "mimer" (another one!!! ) be stronger???!

I didn't even use Hades or anything... I just W-Summoned KOTR connected to HP Absorb, aimed the first one at the tentacles and the second at Ruby himself... the first one "kills" the tentacles, making him pull them up, the second hits ruby... and even though he counters with Ultima, the Mystile makes you dodge it most of the time and even if you don't, you'll always be at full health cause of HP Absorb. Keep on MIMEing it and ruby gets no attacks, just Ultima counters.

I've had lots of problems with the PC version... I lost my PSX CD of CD 1 so I had to play the PC version and I had to miss around with my drivers and get all the patches and stuff to get it to work at all (I have WinXP).... even still, sometimes it just randomly exits itself, or worse, freezes the system. Plus the fact that the FMV's are horribly done, the MIDI music isn't quite the same, and the Bike and Chocobo Races were unplayably fast...

Luckily with the psx mem-tool I converted my PC save to a PSX one after disc one and played the rest of the way on the emulator. The emulator also makes chocobo racing and levelling up much less painful... I just turn off sound and frame limiting and run around at 2x or 3x normal speed while watching videos on my computer
