I find the sf games to be one of the best fighting games out there.. I grew up playing old school 2d fighting games and I still think they are the best.. The only fighting game on 3d that I really liked was Virtual Fighter 2.. That drunken old man was so fun to play..

I love the street fighter games. I find them more strategical than other fighting games, especially SFA3. 3D fighters are in a class of their own and although I'm a fan of Tekken 3 I don't play it nearly as much as 2D fighting games.

I used to play KOF but grew tired of it. Now I don't even look at them anymore. It just seemed to be the same old thing with a couple of additional characters and features in each revision.

i would suggest to play Tekken Tag Taurnament instead of Tekken 4. I will always consider Tekken series as crappy games if i never tried Tekken TT.
IMO, tekken 4 is not as fun to play as Tekken TT, the biggest dissapontment should be the game speed, i somehow have a feeling that i was playing the game in replay mode.

For street fighter 3, the first version really sucks, i think lots of people started to move to kof series after this game came out. But i heard Third Strike (or third impact??) was quite ok.

SF3 2nd impact was quite good.. Third Strike made it a little better.. But yeah, the first Sf3 was sorta a dissappointment..

COUGH COUGH!!!
that has to be the most crappy KOF game ever, and you recommend it? that MUST be for the sole reason that it's a new game. Because it sucks. It really does.

I disagree. In my opinion KoF2k1 was the best kof since '97! Ok, the story sux but it's fast, has great chars, great soundtrack... I'm really happy with kof2k1

although, the question about SF3 has been answered, I'll be a bit off-topic here, and share my opinion about KoF2001. I like almost everything -except- the music - its a bit too "generic" and muffled. Some people don't like the artwork in this one, but IMO its not that bad. The wire damage system is ok, and although you probably won't be using it much, its a nice addition. And on the plus side, Daimon is also back (grapplers rejoice !) and Robert (one of my favorites) is back to his normal self (that is: he's no longer a "charge" character). The striker system is not as flexible (active) as it was in KoF2000... it is now back to the old KoF99 standards. Some people like this, because they felt KoF2000 was becoming too cheap, some don't. Personally, I don't mind much.

All in all, KoF2001 is a nice beat'em up (definately better than KoF96 and KoF99 IMO), although my favorite of the KoF series, is still KoF97.

The problem I have with KOF. People sound like vomiting when hit j/k

IMO comparing 2D and 3D games can't be compared. Both of these have different tastes. When you talk 2D, I'll say SF is the best. When you talk 3D, I'll say Tekken4 is the best.

I am yet to play Tekken4 to its max as it isn't out yet (in NTSC/UC). I just gave it a try at a friends place and realized that this is something.

2d/3d fighting games are very different beasts. I still prefer the 2d fighters over the 3d ones.
Favorite 3d fighters:
1. Soul Calibur (Dreamcast)
2. Tekken 3 (Emulated ePSXe)
3. Virtua Fighter 2 (Sega Saturn)
Favorite 2d fighters:
1. Super Street Fighter 2 (CPS 2)
2. Last Blade 2 (Neo Geo Arcade)
3. Capcom vs SNK 2 (PS2)
