Gaming News 14 -7-2002

--- NOTE : I came up with this idea to make disussing new games and there related info in a easier way ---

--- Soul Calibur II Character info --- Multi-platform

Yoshimitsu heads up the cast of hidden fighters in Namco's hotly-tipped fight-'em-up sequel

Namco has revealed the hidden characters that feature in massively-awaited fighter Soul Calibur II - and Tekken veteran Yoshimitsu is one of them.

The other two newly-announced characters are pirate Cervantes de Leon (who previously appeared in the original Soul Calibur) and Charade, a new character who appears to be a new incarnation of walking flame Inferno, also from the first SC.

These new characters are in addition to an already-impressive cast, the full line-up of which is:

Raphael Sorel
Cassandra Alexandra
Heishiro Mitsurugi
Voldo
Kilik
Maxi
Ivy (Isabella Valentine)
Talim
Hong Yunsung
Taki
Nightmare
Xianghua
Astaroth
Yoshimitsu
Cervantes de Leon
Charade

Take a look at the posts below that show off the new fighters.

The coin-op version of Soul Calibur II has just been released in the UK, with Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox versions due to follow next year.

--- Mario Sunshine : Plot revealed --- NGC

It's all gone a bit grassy knoll, with feverish conspiracy theories galore. I attempt to separate Sunshine fact from fiction...

New images from Super Mario Sunshine hint at a whole range of previously-unknown goings-on.

A picture of the island clearly show 13 areas that you need to work your way through. They're unlikely to be traditional 'levels' though as the game is split into one main area, with a collection of smaller zones to get through, each featuring different games.

Equally intriguing is the shot of Mario being blasted into atoms and then sucked into graffiti on a wall, a la the paintings in Super Mario 64. No doubt, this is how you're transported between the island's different areas.

Also, if you peer closely at one of the shots there's a shadowy figure, who looks reminiscent of the age-old Mr Game & Watch. It's not clear who this character is, though, or whether it's another 'bad' Mario to join Water Mario. Tellingly, the silhouette hasn't got a backpack or brush though.

And finally, I can confirm that Bowser is definitely featured in the game.

The plot thickens...

(For new revealing screens check posts below)

--- Sonic Adventure 2 --- GBA

I just got the first ever in-game screenshots of Sonic Advance 2, in which the super-speedy 'hog, along with Tails and Knuckles, returns for more classic 2D action - ideally suited to the pocket console.

While the gameplay is reminiscent of that of the early MegaDrive Sonic the Hedgehog outings, the environments and level design are completely new.

The game's first three stages are shown here. Leaf Forest is the game's first level and is a traditional-looking Sonic environment. Hot Crater sees you play as Knuckles while the third stage, in which you play as Tails, is as-yet untitled.

It's this stage, featuring a musical motif, that's of particular interest though as, stylistically, it's something of a departure for Sonic and is reminiscent in some ways of ace Japanese puzzler Mr Driller.

Little else is known at present other than the speed of the game has been cranked up compared to the original Sonic Advance. No news either on whether the it will feature a link-up option with the forthcoming Sonic escapade on Gamecube. I'll keep you posted

Soul Calibur New Characters

This is Yoshimitsu's third non-Tekken game, the others being Soul Calibur I and Anna Kournikova's Smash Court Tennis. Yes that's true!

Sonic Adventure 2 first in-game pics

It's all gone a bit bonkers-mental-looking in this level.

P.S

--- Eternal Darkness Pal version earlier release date ? ---

GoblinDirect, a big British online gameshop is causing a sensation by taking pre-orders for the PAL version of Eternal Darkness. The company claims it can already deliver the game on the 19 of August , about 3 months prior to the releasedate Nintendo gave. Even though this isn't any proof at all , it just seems weird that such a well respected company can claim something like that , just think about that.

One final question/comment :

Do you like getting the most important game news of the day right here ?

If so , I'll continue this service , but if not then I'll discontinue it.

All is well by me , I just want your opinion.

I get my news from all around the globe and not from the sites which are known by almost everyone, seeing my nephew works for a gaming site (which I can't mention due to the fact that it distributes warez and roms as well ) which gets news even faster then Gamespot or others , sometimes that is

I find news about major titles as for instance Mario Sunshine to be more important then some info on "just another" PC game.

But I would like to hear what other people find about this.
