I'm looking forward to both, but I'm anticipating C&C Generals more, since I'll actually be able to play it at a decent pace. Plus I'm a huge C&C fan, I loved RA2 and Yuri's Revenge. Doom 3 looks promising graphically but I'll probably have to tone down the graphics immensely to be able to run it at an acceptable rate.

Yet you like games where people can withstand rockets, multiple machine gun fire and shots of electricity. Hell, you can even jump higher with the aid of rockets or other explosives.

Yep. And also games where your character can cast magic missles and teleport
Well the reason I didnt like CNC games was because of the gameplay. I would love it if the explosions were bigger, fewer units allowed, each being very capable and strategy being more involved. You could destroy buildings in no time with like 10 prism tanks in RA2, and have like 100 GI's camping a place stopping anything that comes. IMO strategy in RA2 was about who building things faster to attack, but I dunno bout generals... Earth 2025's gameplay was good but it was futuristic. Oh well, games

I admit some of the units were very powerful but that was one of the goals of RA2, to make powerful units. Besides, there's always some way to tackle the enemy. Prism tanks are no match against Apocalypse tanks or a couple of Masterminds and a 100 GIs can easily be taken out by allied SEALs, Russian siege choppers, or Yuri Mastermind or Virus units (even just one of those units will do the job). There's no single defense that will work every single time (maybe against the computer but not against human players). IMO there's plenty of strategy in RA2.

On the other hand games like Starcraft have very balanced units and gameplay, but it gets somewhat boring at times. Units like the Battlecruiser were just too weak for my taste.

Doesn't mean the gameplay has to be different. From what I've seen Warcraft 3 plays a lot like Warcraft 2, except it's 3D.

Not really. Similar enough for old users to pick up, but at the same time, quite different.

Every RTS game that has made the change to 3D has been flawed or did not live up to its predessessors in one way or another. For example Dark Riegn, Emperor Batlle For Dune, Battle Realms, Earth 2150. All had flaws and havent really captured the esence of what the previous round of 2D RTS games have done (Starcraft Red Alert 2).

Warcraft 3 is somewhat an unknown at the moment i have both played and seen it, and didnt like it. Another thing its been talked about and been in BETA stage for ages now, for crying out loud release the darn game!!!! Because of this Warcraft 3 has lost its charm, the game is old, its been talked about for too long, its missed its chance.

Doom 3 will no doubtedly be the next Quake 3. By this i mean PC's and graphics cards wil be bench tested on it for years to come. Expect a rock solid game engine that will no doubtedly be crash free. Quake 3 is my forte and i just cant wait for Doom 3.

What would you rather:
Blizzard release an unbalanced buggy game now or
Blizzard release a finely tuned piece of art when it's ready.

All games have bugs when they come out. Some more than others. Some companies are able to produce games in a short amount of time without a lot of bugs in them. How long has Warcraft 3 been around? Too long. I think they should have kept it secret for longer so that the buildup could haveben better and people dont get sick of hearing about it. Dont get me wrong Blizard are a great company and everything they have done seems to turn to gold, but i think they have been riding this train for too long. Warcraft 3 is old news.

Its all about timing and i think Blizzard has got it wrong this time.

OK, let's put it this way:
Would you rather it was like SiN that was virtualy unplayable?
I wouldn't. The beta at the moment is still quite buggy IMO, and there are balencing issues to reslolve. In the days before the internet they had to get it right first time, and I salute Blizzard for trying to do that. Starcraft was put back for a long time, yet it still became one of the greatest ever games.
I'd rather they get it right than for Warcraft III to be immidiately slated for being buggy and unbalence, like Hidden and Dangerous, which was ill fated as a reslut

well no one can say... but IMO I think I would wait for RA3. CNC General is derived from CNC Tiberian, so its much different.

I agree with you there Lord Kane but i still think they have anounced the game to early, IMO. From i have played, seen and heard it doesnt impress me. I dont think this will be the first 3D RTS game to break the trend of RTS games moving into 3D.

Anyway back on topic, i havent seen much of CNC Generals but this is Westwood and they are another company who seems to do wonders with whatever they put thier mind to.
