Game Tales

What's the best original story u ever saw in a game?? It's since this question has been asked, if ever. So, what do u say?

Good question. For me, a good story is a simple story (I cannot stand the "philosophicals things"). Maybe... Skies of Arcadia (much fun!).

IMHO, it's Grim Fandango. It really makes u look at death in a different way. Also Disc World 2 did that but i liked GF better

Adventure games on the pc. Grim Fandango was the first adventure game that moved from point and click to full 3D, like Escape From Monky Island. It's really funny if u like that kind of games. It's about what happens when u die. I think people r shouting until now at Lucas Arts for not making a sequel. Oh well.

Disc World has an even funnier story but it's very old. It's about Death having an accident and loosing his memory and u have to find him and help him restore it

Re: Game Tales

Well I'm going out on a limb here. I would have to say Golden Sun...saving the world from Magic...sounds pretty cool. Plus they have a really unique way of summoning and the magic system is really complex...not to mention the class rankings. ^-^ That's why I kinda like this game...^-^

The Fire Emblem serie is really great (the translated part, that is... half a game. Good, still).

Escape from MI is one of my all time favourites. The story that impressed me most is in Deus Ex. The logic behind it and the endings.... really cool. If anyone ever played it completely they may have noticed a blue light computer which tells u about yourself somewhere in the game. Its amazing when you stand and talk to it.

I like the story due to a strange real life fact attached to it which very less ppl know about.

It is....However, there're no translation, except for the 4, and it's only 25%

It's a T-RPG with VERY good fights and the beginning of the story is awsome. But I stopped the game when the translation was over and wait very impatiently for the following.
Plus, the design is good and the musics too.

I have to agree with Nameless that the story of Grim Fandango is very good.
Another of my favourites would be Outcast.
And the best Strategie game with a story surely is Starcraft.

... you guys stole all my favourite stories from games
grim fandango, undoubtedly very original, and very cool... you play as manny calavera in a mexican themed everlasting day of the dead
curse of monkey island 3... where else do you get to meet a hilarious talking skull which relentlessly tries to scare others with hilarious tactics
deus ex... very original, deep storyline... makes you think that something like it is very possible in real life... and yes syed, i met that light blue computer that knew everything in the illuminati hq
and one more... would be the first legacy of kain game... bloodomen legacy of kain... i liked the dark medieval gothic setting and theme based around the game as it progresses...
anyways-if-i-do-any-more-talking-im-gonna-pass-out-from-loss-of-oxygen-so-i-should-stop-talking-nowdfhsdkjlfhsejhfjklsdf *passes out on keyboard*

I really like the sim-city type games, where you have to build your own city etc. The idea is excellent. The best one for me is civilistaion. Excellent strategy game (the best). I also like 1st/3rd person games like Max payne and Dues Ex. Their stories were wicked. RPG wise - Chrono trigger was the best because of it's originality. Never seen a RPG based on a theme like that, but it was excellent.

i think xenogears had the deepest story (pretty whacked too) and chrono trigger is a close second.
